“Good Campground but CAUTION”

This campground and site were wonderful. Not many people, saw some lightning bugs, saw a beautiful sunset and had a wonderful night. However, when we woke up, we found ourselves infested with ticks. BE CAREFUL. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. We found 12 ticks on our dog after staying 1 night. AND found 12 in our bed. (Staying in an RPod)

“Clean, Quiet, Plenty of Space”

Large primitive campsites in a quiet, well-maintained state forest. Most sites have gravel pads but plenty of grass, all have picnic tables and nice fire pits with grill grates and lots of mature trees. There are several toilet vaults throughout campground that are decently clean. There’s a nice little playground on-site as well as 2 lakes, lots of hiking trails, and a visitor center in the park.
Hunting is allowed in a portion of the park and we happened to go on opening-day of squirrel season, so gunshots could be heard in the distance during the morning. The campground itself is in a well-marked “safety zone,” so it’s not unsafe, just a bit of unusual noise.
The road in is a little rough, but shouldn’t be an issue for most vehicles. Saw a shorter RV, several sedans, and even a sports car.
Definitely would visit again!
