After being in more remote campgrounds in Glacier for several days, it was nice to be a close walk from our site to "civilization", the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, which actually had free Wifi if you have AT&T for mobile service. (The regular free WiFi there is just for guests of the inn, but you luck out with a fast AT&T free wifi connection there.) Food at the restaurant there was ambitiously priced, but convenient.
Highly recommend the boat tour from Many Glacier Hotel. We did not have reservations on a really beautiful, sunny summer weekday, but we got onto a boat on standby. The short hike to Grinnell Lake was easy and the lake itself was spectacular (and not too cold in August for a child to paddle in.)
The only downside for access is that (as of August 2023) the road to Many Glacier has many miles of dirt road in really bad condition - potholes and miles of washboard. In my Class B van, I had to go VERY slowly as it seemed like the road was going to shake our cabinets off the wall. Once we got beyond that section of road, though, it was okay.

Site 74 was absolutely the best campsite in one of the best campgrounds we've stayed in. Beautiful riverside plot with open space but still relatively private. The campground itself was well appointed with clean and well-functioning bathrooms. There was some bear activity while we were there, and the friendly and diligent Ranger team stayed on-site making us feel safe and informed. On a 2+ week adventure across the NW USA & Canada, this was definitely our best stop. Highly recommend!

I can’t remember how much the token for the showers are, but you get 8 min for the token and always have had hot water. Good laundry on site if you need it. If you choose to buy dinner or food - don’t waste your time at the Many Glacier Hotel, it’s a better experience at the Swift Current and less expensive. Tons of people wild life, enjoy!

We stayed for 3 nights. This is a suburb location surrounded by towering mountains and close to tons of amenities and activities. Views vary by site. The Swiftcurrent Inn has a public laundry room. A dump station with potable water fill is on the road to the campground. Water spigots are strewn about the campground as well.
The access road to this portion of the park is partly dirt. Our site and the others we saw were extremely narrow and overgrown with vine maple and other plants. The combination made it very difficult to get into our pull through site without scraping anything. The site was largely level. There was a moderate amount of tree cover but we still had enough solar production for our needs. The pros of being overgrown was good privacy between sites.

This spot is incredibly beautiful, surrounded by picturesque mountainscapes with glaciers visible from the campsites. The campground has a spacious and friendly vibe. We enjoyed walking to Many Glacier lodge where we hopped on a boat ride to a hike through the glaciers. While all of the campgrounds we saw and stayed in while visiting the national park were beautiful, some of them did not offer the overwhelming views that this one does, giving you a true sense of place. This is not just another campground - when I go back I will definitely be staying here again, for longer.

We stayed at Many Glacier Campground July 24th-29th, 2019. This was a rather sudden add-on to a trip to Idaho so we had zero reservations for our trip. A friend had recommended the east side of Glacier as the more spectacular side and he wasn’t wrong! We were glad we took his advice.
We drove directly to the Many Glacier Campground on a Wednesday arriving in the afternoon, with the idea that we’d cross our fingers for an available walk-in (versus reserved) campsite, and revert to staying in an RV park somewhere outside the park if we had to.
At the Park East Entrance the ranger called ahead to see if there was a site available as entry to Glacier is $35 and we didn’t want to have to pay for a week-long entry if we couldn’t stay. It looked good and when we arrived the camp host had one site with reservation cancellation for one night, so we took it and were thrilled. If you’re there you understand that the early bird gets a site. By getting into the park, we were almost assured of getting a site the next day; let me explain how it works. We enjoyed our first night in #48, took a hike and then made our plan. We walked around the campground noting all the sites where tags reported people’s last day was the next day. Anyone can always pay and extend their stay in a walk-up site, but usually by the afternoon/evening, they have done so. We were very determined, so dear husband made the sacrifice and got up at 3am and was out to the entrance to the campground to get in line. Surely he’d be first we thought, but unbelievably, he was second in line. By 7am I joined him with coffee and there were 9-10 more vehicles lined up behind him all hoping for a camp site. We had our list and when the ranger walked up to our car we asked if #80 was available, and it was, so we got it!! Five more nights in one of the most beautiful sites in the entire park (in my humble opinion)! There are others nearby, #86 was even better we heard, but we were delighted with what we got. We happened to be out and about several other mornings by 7am and saw more than a dozen cars/campers/etc all waiting in line for one of the walk-up sites.
What we loved is that we looked right up at Mt. Grinnell, nothing else in our view. The campground was very quiet, has nice bathrooms (not pit toilets!), with electrical outlets, a common grey-water dump sink between the men’s & women’s side, and it’s right across the street from the Swift Current Motor Lodge that has an all day open restaurant, gift/snacks/hiking supplies store, hub for shuttle bus, laundry/showers available, and ranger talks in the amphitheater.
Overall, a magical trip.

The hikes in the Many Glacier area are some of the best in the National Park. We love Grinnell Glacier, Cracker Lake, Iceberg Lake! We almost always see a moose or a bear when we visit the Many Glacier area. The road in is very rough but if taken slowly most of the crater-sized potholes can be dogged.
