Stayed overnight at this location in late October, 2023. It was as good as other camppendium reviews described. Quiet, public restrooms and water fountain, 24-hour security guards walking the rest stop, and in the morning a beautiful view of the city. Met other friendly travelers who also could not believe the accommodations. Five star... more

“Basic Parking Area Very Close To Highway”

Plenty of level room separate from the Semis and "resters" on the playa for any sized rig . clean flush toilets. Several picnic shelters far apart (no privacy otherwise). Frequent trains passing across the freeway is tolerable. Not too hot early April. Colorful desert sunset. No signage on stay limit. but does say "No alcohol". I deci... more

“NOT A REST AREA! Prior Reviews Not Correct”

Two of the reviews from 2023 are describing Las Cruces Overlook Rest Area NOT this spot. This location is only a pull off across from the Border Patrol station. No amenities and only semis parked. The actual rest area with bathrooms, security, etc is 15 miles farther east toward Las Cruces.

First off do not open in google maps from this site. It takes you about 30 miles out of the way then leads you to the state immigration area.
