“Small campground on the Metolious ”

One of many campgrounds on the Metolious River but love this spot.
I think less than 20 spots, almost all would fit our 20' trailer with a lot of pull through spots. The sites along the river are awesome, big and private. Mixed sun and shade but we were able to pull enough power from our solar panels to keep things going. There was definitely folks running generators in the campground and it was a mix of tents and trailers there. The smell of the pit toilets made it's way to our spot with the right wind.
Easy access to great fishing spots and only about 2 miles from the Camp Sherman store.
We filled up with water for free at the Camp Sherman store but had to string together 2 hoses to make it happen and back in to a spot on the right side of the building. The spicket was closer to the front door of the store and they were kind enough to share it but it wasn't the easiest access to make it happen. The RV park just across the bridge wanted $10 to fill with water... not sure if this is normal or not or if it was because it was Memorial day weekend or him eying me but I moved on for other options.
C. Mitch would stay here again

I have stayed here in years past and most recently last week 7-9-2019. The past, I don't recall so many generators in use. They have become much more popular and folks fire them up often. I am a tent camper. It looked like all sites were capable of handling large RV's. We stayed in site 6. The wind was blowing from the pit toilets towards our camp. The several middle sites might experience that pleasant odor :) No water in the campgrounds. The nearest is Smiling River. There is a water fill up area in the parking lot of the GS Camp across the Allingham Bridge. I saw RV's filling up there. If Cell service is important, you may be in luck at this campground. I have a Sprint Hotspot device and it was getting an ok signal without a WeBoost. This is on the fringe of service. My ATT would not pull in a signal unless I was using my WeBoost Cell Amplifier and a directional Antenna. My kid's have Verizon and it was not working unless they used the Amplifier as well. Someone was in site 18 along the river and has Verizon. Was not able to get service. They fired up their WeBoost Amplifier in their RV and were able to get a decent signal with an omni-directional antenna. The road outside of the campgrounds, walk or drive up a few hundred yards and cell service starts to be better. You can also go up to the viewpoint on Forest Rd 14 just above the Gorge Campground and get good signal.
