It was very hot during the day too. We enjoyed our stay and it was super quiet and peaceful, but wouldn’t return just based on the access for us.

We stayed at Gates of Lodore campground four nights during early July, the nightly rate was $5 with America the Beautiful Senior Pass. The regular rate for the 2020 season is $10 per night. The road to the campground is a hard-packed gravel road with some washboarding, but easily manageable. Some of the campsites are shaded by giant Cottonwood trees, water is available, and there are two vaulted toilet buildings. This is a first come first serve campground with no trash service, each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box. The campground is very quiet and clean with great Camp Hosts. The campground is situated along the Green River, a popular rafting river, with large sandbars accessable from the campground for those who want to wade into the cool waters. There is a short trail from the campground loop drive that takes you to a spectacular viewing area of the Gates of Lodore, this hike is easy and very worthwhile. The campground does fill up during the weekends due to river rafters departing from the campground launching area, during the weekdays there are very few campers. Overall this is a great place to relax, take in the beautiful views, and enjoy an evening campfire. Mosquito repellent is very helpful.

Access is via a 7 mile well maintained dirt road.
20 first-come-first-serve sites. $10/night half for seniors and access pass holders.
0 to 3 bars ATT 3G service got worse towards the canyon and better toward the ranger station.
No verizon signal even with a 10dB gain antenna.

At the camp ground, there was one group that was all there to go rafting in the morning, but other than that there was only one solo camper besides us. The views of this place look like something it of the movie. If you get the number 17 spot, you have a sand spot secluded in the bushes for your tent and a trail to a beach by the river. One of my favorite places in the world

Raft trips leave from the boat dock here many mornings. Those people will want to camp here.
Seniors with lifetime senior pass pay half price for camping - normally $10
