“Lovely, quiet, beautiful land. Very dispersed camping midweek and end of February. ”

The access road was wash boardy, but wide and clear. Only 1 or 2 sketchy spots at the end for our rental 23 foot RV’ but worth the adventure.

“Beautiful place kind of rough getting in.”

Really enjoyed our stay here. the only bad part was traveling up Middlemarch Rd extreme washboard for 10+ miles. Once you hit FR 687 it gets a little hairy if you have a larger rig. Narrow with tree branches and dips. We made it in OK with our 35' TH, but you better scout it before you pull in. There were only a couple of places tha... more

“Beautiful, peaceful location and much to explore”

FR 687 is accessed from North Middlemarch Rd, off Hwy 80 just north of Tombstone. Middlemarch Rd is badly washboarded - I drove much of the way in at 10-15 mph with the trailer, not knowing what was coming up, and I had cabinet doors open and stuff fall out. When I left, having gotten used to the road with the truck and knowing there w... more

This was the best camping location I've had so far. The surroundings were beautiful and felt truly isolated. There is a gas station about 14 miles from the location, with reasonably prices gas. The ride in is on about 14 miles of dirt roads that can be a little bumpy. The town of Tombstone is about 15 or 20 minutes away. Small town, wi... more

Beautiful peaceful spot up against the mountains. It is about a 30 min drive on a pretty rough and bumpy road...but so worth it. Get to Tombstone in 20-30 min. We love it!

“We LOVE this place!”

Granted the road is pretty bumpy to get there with a 35 feet bus with low clearance, but it is well worth the washboard ride and the few wash crossings to be in such a spectacular setting. And a bonus for us is that it's home to tons of awesome rock climbing routes 3 minutes away. Last yes, we camped right at the bottom of the Strongho... more

“Beautiful view of west Dragoon Mountains”

Reviewed Feb 26, 2016

This lat/lon represents the start of Forest Road 687 when it connects to Middlemarch Road. Middlemarch is a wide maintained gravel road but can be washboardy in places. Drive 10 miles to 687, turn left and cross a cattleguard and there are miles of dispersed sites with fire rings all along the west side of the Dragoon Mountains. Some s... more
