Likely closed due to the covid-19 outbreak. 🙁 We stopped instead to have lunch and then we’re back on the road. Looks beautiful. Definitely will come back

What a great place to stay. Sites are roomy and it didn’t cost a thing. That will change. The ranger came to close the camp for the season. He said next year they will start charging....and they are renovating the sites to make them more modern. Whatever that means.

Tried to stay here 8-1-19. I work form the road and there was zero cell coverage (T-Mobile). I did get intermittent 2-3 bars with a booster, but the cell tower status was “emergency only”. Lots of trash all about, and lots of seeming local day campers. There was a perfect pull through right at the shore but someone decided to use it as a parking spot for their lifted 4X4.
Overall, seems like this place draws an unsavory crowd, as it’s free. We won’t be back.
The 2 stars is strictly for the price. The road in is decent, but is pretty much single track at the end.

We arrived on a Thursday and there were only 2 other groups camping. So we had lots of spots to choose from. We chose the second loop and one of the pull through spots. Very easy to get level.
There was also two dumpsters and recycling in each loop which was a huge plus for us!
It was very quiet and not busy when we stayed here.

We drove our RV all the way down to Fig Orchard. Pulled in on Mothers Day (Sunday) around 4 and just about every spot was taken by tent and car campers.
We turned around and stayed in Grimy Gulch for a couple nights. Took the dogs for a walk one day and the Fig Campgrounds had cleared out. Moved the RV over a spot that would fit us. Had room to back our 40' in and park the toad in front. Its in the first loop of Fig I, on the end of the loop at the right. There are a couple long spots here, and then a couple more in the Fig Orchard II loop.
I would suggest unhooking a toad before driving in, couple tight turns and its a one lane gravel road.
Great spot, fairly level with lakefront view. Access to water is only 15 feet out the front door. Fire pit with a grill attachment and concrete table. Pit toilets, trash cans, and recycling. No water or dump station, but there is a rv park thats on the way back to highway 5.
Cell service is better here than Grimy Gulch.
Verizon had 2 bars of 4g, At&T had 2 bars as well. Download speeds on AT&T were 20+ mb's DL, about 2 mb's UL.
This place gets busy on the weekend. I suggest pulling mid week if you want a prime spot. A lot of tenters come in for one night, then head out in the morning.

noted 11/16/2022
All the 'free' campsites are blocked by a gate for the winter season, and all the paid sites are also closed for the season. We couldn't stay here and wasted 40 mins driving, unless you're going in the summer months I wouldn't bother coming this way for this reservoir.
