“Nice And Inexpensive Campground Close To Skagway And The Historic Cemetery Of Dyea”

Reviewed 7/25/2023

Nightly rate: $10
Days stayed: 2

RV Length: 20' (Travel Trailer)
Overall Rating

We stayed here for two days while exploring Skagway and the old ghost town of Dyea. There is no drinking water at the campground, so be sure to bring some. Plenty of firewood is provided.

15-20 drive on a gravel road to Skagway. No problem with our 32’ fifth wheel. Dry camping, only 22 sites but most are good size. Only a few we would not fit in. Clean & quiet with free firewood. The flats across the river are nice also but bridge height is 11’6” so not an option for us.

Overall Rating

I'll be honest, Skagway is an incredibly touristy town with lots of cruise boats stopping there every day. However, none of them go to the Dyea Flats and this is where the Gold Rush really happened. You can see the old Gold Rush Cemetery, go walk on the flats and enjoy the Alaska Coast. It is 9 miles from Skagway and .5 miles from the ... more
