Pullen Creek RV Park is more like a park than a parking lot. At $75, it is $20 higher than Garden City RV Park, but worth it for the location and setting. Irregular sites are well spaced among trees and a central grassy area. Downtown is just a short walk across Pullen Creek and Park. W & E with a dump station.

Sandwiched between the primary cruise ship dock and the train station, this small city-owned and operated RV Park puts you close to the action. We intentionally chose this location for the ease of walking to downtown. The city has another RV Park (parking lot style) for the same price but it's further from downtown. They also have a free campground out by Dyea but the drive back and forth would certainly have reduced our time downtown.
This is a W/E park only, but does have two dump locations near the entrance. Pedestrian traffice during the middle of the day can make access a bit challenging, but early mornings and evenings were easy walking with no crowds. Sites varied a lot and they assigned them according to size. We ended up with one that backed up to the neighboring marina storage area and never experienced any noise from that direction. Shower/bathroom building was clean but dated. Connectivity on AT&T, Google Fi, and Verizon was marginal to adequate during the day but quite adequate at night once the cruise passengers had headed back to their ships.
This was a great base for doing some exploring in the area that we'd never had time to do while visiting on a cruise.

We camped here in June, 2013 in a 35 foot fifth wheel. The rate shown above is the 2015 rate.
After traveling from Georgia to Alaska for a month we were anxious to get to our first Alaska destination. When we left Watson Lake that morning our original plan was to take a different route and spend a few more nights in Canada before arriving in a completely different area of Alaska. Six miles from the turnoff to Skagway we made the decision we couldn't wait any longer. Skagway it was.
We left the Alaska Highway and off we went. We were about halfway to Skagway when I realized it was Saturday of Father’s Day weekend. What if all the rv parks were full? There was no cell service and no way to find out until we got there. The scenery along the Klondike highway was spectacular with snow covered mountains and deep blue ice covered lakes. We even saw two bears.
After clearing customs and taking pictures at the Welcome to Alaska sign we headed straight to the Pullen Creek RV Park. Check in was quick and easy. There are two sections of the campground and we asked if there were any harbor sites available for two or three nights. We were told to find a site and come back to the office to let him know which site we were in.
The harbor sites are back in sites in the parking lot beside the Skagway harbor. Each site has a fabulous view and water and electric hookups behind the sites. The sites are close together but nobody cares. It's all about the view!
The other sites in the campground are smaller and have no view. There is a dump station available. WiFi is available for a fee but ATT had a strong signal and I was able to use my WiFi hotspot with no problem.
Just a short walk from the campground and we are on the main street in Skagway! What a great place to start our Alaska adventure!
