“Close to Mesa Verde Park”

Reviewed Jun 13, 2019

Overall Rating

Nice spot close to Cortez and Mesa Verde Nat’l Park.

Spots are numbered and spaced out okay. We could see our neighbors at number 3.

We were at campsite number 2. A bit small but level ground with big juniper trees. Some good views here and there. Nice sunset🌄.

“Not bad, great views, felt a little sketchy”

Reviewed May 04, 2019

The road in is narrow and was a little torn up it must have recently rained and someone drove through the mud and there were huge grooves that needed to be avoided. The first several sites had little , what I would call, 'holder tents'. Seemingly just put up to hold the spot. I pulled into the first spot I found and then walked the r... more

“Awesome Location, Killer Views, but a bit Sketchy”

We have mixed feelings about this site. Pros: - Absolutely incredible views - Quiet - 5 minute drive to Mesa Verde Visitor Center - Larger spots (toward the end of the road) Cons: - Rough road and some log hanging branches (our wifi booster got snagged of by a limb - but we found it) - Some people are there permanently (the... more

Private with plenty of space in between sites. I came here in a tent in October and it was plenty warm during the day and totally doable at night. The sites have some makeshift fire pits and a lovely view. Not crowded at all! I only saw two other campers! I drove in in a sedan and had no issues manuvering the roads. It is a little clos... more

“Not good for bigger towables”

Reviewed Aug 27, 2018

Overall Rating

We stayed here in a 33.5' travel trailer. The road is not built for rigs this size. There is a turn around at the end, but I have no idea how small a towable would have to be to make it around the tree in the middle of the turn around. My wife and I ended up having to back up down the road in the dark for about 1/2 mile on a narrow roa... more

“We had a good time! ”

Reviewed Aug 01, 2018

It's kind of a tight road and majority of the sites are smaller for tents or small campers, the sites #9-the end are better for bigger campers. We barely had enough room. There is a turn around at the end of road. Had a decent view of Mesa Verde mountains! Seems like the "hang out" spot for the locals/kids drinking. Decent camping spot... more

“Great location near Mesa Verde National Park”

Reviewed Jul 23, 2018

This was our first time really boondocking on BLM land! After reading previous reviews, we decided to take our chances with pulling our 30' Airstream trailer into this place. It was conveniently located, about a mile from Mesa Verde Visitor Center and close to two different towns; Mancos to the east and Cortez to the west. From ... more

“Perfect location for daily visits to Mesa Verde, Cortez, and Durango”

Reviewed May 22, 2018

Found this site on Campendium and was so pleased with it! It was very easy to find, right off the main highway, then make the first right. There is a sign that says 'no off road vehicles beyond this point'. The sites are numbered, which makes it quite easy. I had to maneuver my car in a few places to avoid potholes and higher rocks, bu... more

Lots of shooting here. Not safe at all. Plus, locals driving ATVs up and down the road. They also need to institute portable toilet rules here. T paper and you know what all around our site.
