My wife and I stayed here one night. We visited the Mesa Verde National Park which is only about 5 minutes away from the entrance. There were plenty of sites however, most of them were taken. Luckily, were able to snag one. The views were amazing and to top it off, it was free. I highly recommend this place.

I did end up taking my truck down the road to check out the spots one day, and then my dirt bike the next day. The road is hard packed dirt and VERY bumpy. I would not attempt it if it has recently rained. There are a dozen or so sites and pretty much each one was occupied when I visited. I did test my cell signal out there and was able to make calls and connect to the internet with both Verizon and ATT.

Decided to check this spot out after an all day drive from the Grand Canyon. Driving out 28” Fleetwood Storm, towing an 18” flatbed. Access to the county road was very convenient and easy from the 160, but, luckily no other rigs were leaving at the same time as there would not have been any way to pass each other. Each site is sloped. There is a dead end into private property with a turn around loop at the end of this county road. We BARELY made the loop due to a poorly placed tree. With some skillful maneuvering, we got turned around to get out. Every spot was filled, but they were all closer than we normally like to camp anyways so we moved on to the next camp location. We will be skipping this one next time we come through here.

If you can't get a spot here safely, fellow sedan-drivers, there is a rest stop a mile west of here. I was going to stay there if this didn't work out, but I'm not sure if that's allowed there.

Just up the road from us The Bearded Villains were having a camp out. How cool was that! Check them out they have an awesome mission statement. I would’ve given this area five stars except for the highway noise and the dust. The road was a little bumpy but not bad. As always, if you’re not sure, I’ll walk up and take a look at the sites. The views and privacy between sites were really good!

When I arrived on Wednesday at around 6pm a lot of the camping spots looked taken so I kept driving until I found one that looked doable. It was initially 13 but it was a bit too close to the road so I got out and walked around the area because it looked like there where more possibilities for camping. Turns out 13 is divided into two sections, 13 and 13A. I ended up in13A as it was very spacious and pretty level.
It’s quiet, peaceful and free. How can you go wrong?! Enjoy!

It's a 15 minute drive to Cortez, where we got laundry, groceries, a gas fill up and dumped our tanks. We also took a 45 minute drive to Durango, where we walked around the historic Main Street, and we had a nice dinner out.
The mile in from CR 34 was dirt, but relatively good. Site 15 is the last site in before the tight, treed turn around and fence for private property. There are some mid range views through the random trees from it (site 14 probably has the best views), but looking across the road you can see the two most prominent peeks in the Nation Park. There was some distant road noise from the main road, but not enough to be bothersome.
We are equipped so we can boondock for more than a week, so the lack of sewer, water and electric was not a problem. We supplemented our water from the spigot on the camp store building at the campground in Mesa Verde. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at this camping area.

We stayed here on 05/13/22 we pulled into the very first area mark as site #1. It was big enough were we could have had someone else next to us. The further up you go the road the more the sites slope and the road gets rocky. Just a few miles away from Mesa Verde National Park.

If you are camping at a dispersed site, and there are a dozen from which to choose, maybe don’t pick the one in direct contact with the only other person there. It’s dispersed. So, go disperse your self.

Lots of shooting here. Not safe at all. Plus, locals driving ATVs up and down the road. They also need to institute portable toilet rules here. T paper and you know what all around our site.

we tried to camp here in february but we were disappointed to find out this area is closed from dec 1 to april 30. there is a locked gate blocking the road. it’s a great location, so i’d love to try again when it’s open.

This is now burn scar. Lots of burnt standing timber. Do not recommend. Some parts of this remained closed

Closed as of 1/2/2021, but would have been a great spot to explore Mesa Verde from.
