This is a big, beautiful state park with lots of history. You have room to hike (13 miles of trails), room at your site, and many things close to see. Being from the south, we assumed electric also meant with water, it does not. That was our mistake. Next time we will try to plan for a full hook up site, but we did just fine without water hookups. We had water in our fresh tank and they have a place to fill up with water. The showers are clean (mildly annoying to have to push the button every 30 seconds when rinsing thick hair). The park staff and hosts are friendly. And one of the trails is like a walk in history! The sites aren’t too close to each other, so you don’t feel like you are up in your neighbors business. This was our first visit to Indiana and we look forward to another!

If you're coming from the north, don't take 160 unless you are in a small rig. It was very tight and windy. Go on down to the 62 exit, it's way quicker, and easier too.
Will definitely stay there again. Only downside was that our sewer hookup was uphill from the camper.

Spent one night on our way out west. Clean park, good site spacing and quiet.
We would definitely like to stay in warmer weather to enjoy the area more, but no complaints this time around.

A bit confusing with no one attending the park or campsite entrance points when we pulled in at check in time (1 pm). Called the number at camp entrance point and was instructed to go to the Park Office after setup.

Our 38’ RV fit fine with the Jeep, sideways in front. The roads are paved and great for walking the dogs, biking etc. Internet comes and goes but overall good. We had great AT&T service. Dish came in great, even with all the beautiful trees. Peaceful place. During the week, the electric only area has been pretty quiet. The full hookup sites were not as private and more crowded. There are water fill-up and dump stations as soon as you come into the campground area. 2 of each.

Close to Charlestown for gas and groceries, 30 minutes to Louisville for derby, distilleries and horse farms! Bathrooms are unbelievably clean, sites are mowed regularly too. Big fire pits with grill grate in each site, good security. Picnic tables could use some updating-they are clean but the wooden seats are splintering. We like it so much we have booked another 14 days in August. We pull a 41ft fiver and fit just fine in site 188. No WiFi but use our ATT for a hot spot with no problem. Dozens of over the air tv channels inclosing all network and public channels. Very nice staff and guests were treated very nicely!

Long site backing onto wooded area. Room for our truck and trailer in a straight line. Roads paved, very easy for large rigs.
Great hiking, hike to Rose Amusement park a must. Didn't use the washroom facilities.
Had to pay entry to state park of $9 (out of state).

We loved our stay here! We stayed 8 nights in April (overlapping the Thunder over Louisville weekend) while we filmed a wedding in Louisville. During the week there were maybe only five or six other campers. Very peaceful, really nice clean park. We stayed at a site with full hook ups, everything worked great. Site was $33 during the week and $44 for weekend nights. The weekend definitely itself filled up the park, almost all spots were taken but emptied out by mid Sunday.
This park is so relaxing and fun. We enjoyed a hike or walk every morning with coffee. Saw a coyote, lots of turkey, a few deer, and our pup loved all the near by trails! We highly recommend the Rose Island trail, very cool and interesting, and the hike is a good workout too.
Sites were spacious and level. Showers were warm and clean. Good privacy or space between most sites. We got in after the park closed but we’re able to pay for the spot with a Dropbox. Very friendly staff, we actually paid an entire extra night by accident and they called to make sure we came in to get our money back along with our car tag. This will definitely itely be our go-to place when we are needing to be near Louisville!
