Turned Around When We arrived (Should Have Turned Back Sooner but already paid on the website so I was hoping things would improve) The Roads Are Poor; narrow With Loose Gravel And Low Hanging Branches. There Was A Sign Leading Into Camp That Said Flash Flood Area and very muddy. Zero Cell Signal And No Hookups. If You Value Your Rv Don’t Come Here.

Dry campground but there is a dump station and fresh water fill up at the front of the park. There are also clean restrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers. Water spigots throughout campground. Camp hosts are GREAT and take fantastic care of the campground. There is zero cell signal, generator hours limited, mostly shaded campsites so solar isn’t dependable. More than half of the sites are on the creek that runs through the campground. The lake has an area for swimming, a few docks for fishing, and is open for kayaks and canoes. Plenty to do within 5 miles to keep you busy for a few days, at least. Our suggestions are to go to Natural Bridge State Park, take a scenic drive to the James River footbridge and put your feet on the Appalachian Trail for a day, and spend a day walking around historic Lexington. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 10 miles away, too.
We wouldn’t call this campground big rig friendly, but there are a few sites that can accommodate larger rigs. The drive from the interstate isn’t bad and should be doable for any unit.
We’d go out of our way to stay again.

We only stayed for one night on our way to Shenandoah national park. We love this campground. It is so peaceful. Large campsites too. No cell service in the campground and no hookups. Definitely would like to come back again. We stayed on site 24.

The lake was not much but entertaining for kids for an afternoon. Natural Bridge is definitely worth a visit and if you want a challenging hike the Devils Marble Yard is right of the road and worth a visit. No cell service at all but that was nice for a few nights.
Several reviews said site 20 was good, it has no privacy, is directly across from the only bathhouse and the worst site there. We actually paid for 2 sites to get away from site 20. Site 2 was very nice.

This is definitely a 5-Star campground but don’t let everyone know because we want to keep it for ourselves! There is lots of space between the wooded sites with a picturesque stream separating the 2 rows of campsites. The bathhouse was very clean and easily accessible. There are also hiking trails on site.

What a wonderful campground! This was our first outing in our new 21 ft Geo Pro. We decided to trust Campendium for our planning process. Campendium introduced us to Cave Mountain Lake, and lonewolf1977 guided us to site 20. The site was across the lane from the bathhouse, which was clean and very nice, and the stream was less than ten feet from our camper. If you love the sound of running water, then 20 is your best choice! I have to mention that the hosts...all of them...were extremely attentive and friendly. There was no Verizon service, which was a benefit to our vacation. This location is minutes away from Natural Bridge State Park and is close to a gas station and a friendly, small local market. We loved this campground and it definitely earned five stars.

We hopped on a non-reservable site over the weekend as it was the perfect middle location for all the touristy things we wanted to see in the area. This campground is 20-60 minutes away from tons of beautiful historic towns and sites! The campground itself exceeded our expectations. The site was clean and well kept nestled alongside a bubbling creek that feeds into the mountain lake. The campground hosts were kind and respectful, but also kept the park in perfect order. The bathrooms were the cleanest we’ve ever camped with. If our path ever leads back to this area, we will certainly camp here again!

A beautiful, rustic campground in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest of Virginia. We stayed on Site 28, which is right next to the creek. There are no hook-ups in this park, but it has a nice restroom building with 4 private showers.
