Great little campground that was full from time to time but the sites are so big you’d never know it was full.
Right in the Intracoastal Waterway. I watched the boats, birds and even dolphins go by.
Close to Charleston.

We were visiting Charleston and decided to stay here because we could use our Interagency Senior pass. We read the reviews on campendium and other sites so we knew the facilities not be up and working but we are self contained so it was not an issue. The campground was neat but does need some upgrading. The showers were available but not the toilets they had portable potties. The sites were paved and were well separated from each other. We had 50amp hookup with water, no septic but there was a dump station. The intercoastal waterway was right out front of our site. There is a boat ramp there that is very active. We watched the boats go up and down the waterway and the birds flying and catching fish. We also saw on our last day dolphins swimming in the waterway. We could sit outside when there was a breeze but you need bug spray. The campground is about 45 minutes north of Charleston but there are stores and restaurants along the way. We had good wifi access at this campground. If you want to stay somewhere not very expensive and that is peaceful with nice view I recommend staying here. However they do need to upgrade the dump station and the restroom facilities. But overall we liked it and would return again. There are only about 14 sites at this location. So the weekends are usually full.

Camped here the first weekend in August. Since the campground faces the ocean across the Marsh, there's almost always a steady breeze to keep the bugs down and temperatures tolerable. Once it stops, Off is your friend.
Only 15 or so camper sites, all paved, with power and water. The website calls them all handicapped, so don't worry about that. There are also a few tent sites over by the water.
Sites are spacious and most have some shade. This weekend it's full, but very quiet.
The campground is next to the Buck Hall boat landing on the Intracoastal. I think everyone loads up in the morning and goes out, which is why it's so quiet.
Only downside: the restrooms are offline. Apparently you can only shower. For everything else, there are two portapottys which should have been cleaned a week ago. Either bring your own or plan on a trip into town for breakfast.

This is a beautiful spot, Was in the area recently and found out Buck Hall is closed until mid January, 2019 for water main repairs. It’s a good idea to double check official websites before heading into an area.

We checked in with the host on our arrival who was friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. We camped in site 1 which was a paved drive that required a little leveling. But not much. The site had electric and water hook-ups. We didn’t use the restrooms or the dump station.
The campground gets crowded during shrimping season and was full the two days we were there. Site 1 has good separation from nearby sites, but it was still easy to walk over and talk with our neighbors. There are some interesting restaurants in nearby McCellanville. Service with ATT is very good and I was able to stream content via their network.
Earl and I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We had a great week at Buck Hall! The campground isn't very large so I definitely recommend making a reservation. During shrimp baiting season (60 days starting the Friday nearest September 15) the campground is completely booked. Plan accordingly! There is really nice boat landing and fishing/crabbing pier in the campground. We had a blast kayaking around and had some awesome dolphin encounters. The historic town of McClellanville is super cute and I definitely recommend a seafood dinner at TW Graham's! Their key lime pie is amazing as well! The nearby Sewee Visitor Center has red wolves and is free to visit. They also have RV parking! We enjoyed this, but if you have kids I think it would be a must do! You can call ahead and find out when they will be feeding the wolves. The crabbing is great at the campground and we had a delicious crab boil as a result! The only reason I am not giving this campground 5 stars is that the bathrooms were pretty gross. They were working on them while we were there so maybe there is a brighter future for these run down bath houses. Our hotspots worked great here too!

Camped here the end of July. Very pretty area. Mosquitos can be a pain so bring some deet. The hosts are very kind and the campsite is patrolled by local PD. Really enjoyed my stay here.

Buck Hall Recreation Area is conveniently located right off route 17. The $20 includes a $10 senior discount plus a $10 reservation fee! The reservation fee seems awfully high but I assume it is the same whether you reserve one night or several nights. We only stayed one night so it is steep. There are some overhanging trees but fairly easy to dodge. This is an older park so the sites are narrow but plenty long enough for any size rig. They are all back-in and some would be tricky to get a big rig into. The sites are paved and some have trees but they offer little shade. Site 8 could use some trimming. The park itself is full of beautiful trees and it is right on the intracoastal. It was fun to watch all the boats passing by. They also have a boat ramp. Bathrooms were under renovation. The showers worked but not all the toilets. They had port-a-potties set up. There are lots of no see-ums expecially at night. The sites are water and electric with a dump station. Directv satellite worked fine in our site (9). Verizon was 4g 3 bars. For the most part it is very quiet although you can hear some traffic noise from 17 even though it’s a fair distance away. We would stay here again.

The main camp was full when we pulled in, so were directed to the overflow camp which was shady, pretty, secluded and with several spots to camp. Some sites had fire rings. The cost was $5 but we paid only $2.50 with our senior pass. We also had access to the main camp dump station and bathroom (which were not awesome).
