We really like this place. The sites are a little close for a state park but there’s lots of natural landscape between you and your neighbors. We really like this place. The sites are a little close for a state park but there’s lots of natural landscape between you and your neighbors. Shower houses were nice and cleaned more than once daily. Rangers were friendly and informative. Birders will be really happy here! We also saw some armadillo, waiting and hoping for some turtle sightings. Lots of walking trails, boardwalks, a kayak launch point as well as ramps for bigger boats. Roads thru the park are wide enough to safely bicycle. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. Conveniently located to Perdido, Orange Beach, and Pensacola.

This is our second time camping at Big Lagoon… on both occasions we were met by professional Park Rangers who were kind, informative and friendly. This is our second time camping at Big Lagoon… on both occasions we were met by professional Park Rangers who were kind, informative and friendly. I realize that this should be the norm, however this vintage of professionalism is not found across the board so thanks to one and all. The park has been around for a while which means that hurricanes have left their mark in years past, however this year everything was open and one could see the improvements to the park proper… The walking trails and boardwalks are super… The restrooms at the RV Park are clean and functional… the restrooms at the boat launch and other locations outside the RV Park are superb… The actual RV sites vary from level to not so much but all in all it’s manageable. We have a Class B which was very easy… some larger Class A’s had to maneuver a bit more, my take is that one should be a seasoned driver… anyway we loved this place and will be back next year.

We came in after hours but called ahead for a gate code. Sites were back in and most 60ft. Nice trails and 2 beaches. Would definitely stay again

Bushes between sites makes it nice for privacy and helps to make it feel large. They have a cool observation deck that you can get nice views of the lagoon. Bathrooms and showers are nice and clean. Close enough to sights like naval museum, fort Pickens, johnson beach, tarklin bayou.

Nice quiet park, we visited while there were bad rain storms in the area. Some of the sites had washed out. Not many sites for big rigs. Check the site specs to make sure it fits your camper. 48 sits up on a hill so no problem with the rains, 60 is very shallow and uneven, partial washout with the rains so they moved us to 9. Check the site specs to make sure it fits your camper. 48 sits up on a hill so no problem with the rains, 60 is very shallow and uneven, partial washout with the rains so they moved us to 9. Overall loop 1, sites 1-12 are the most level. Restrooms very clean. Hiking and biking down to the boat ramp and beach. Close to town, just 9 miles to orange beach.

A minimalist trip with my daughter, at the beginning of February 2020. A 24-foot closed trailer served as our home. We occupied the first 10 feet and the back was used as storage for our 4 kayaks. Our purpose of visit was to find a suitable place to test our new models of kayaks. We loved our stay at the Big Lagoon.

We stayed during the T-Day holiday in late November. Many of the sites are unpaved, some are unlevel, many are paved or partially paved. There are lots of trails to explore, but some are still closed due to hurricane damage years ago. The brush between the campsites makes them feel more secluded. It’s fairly close to town and close to a NAS so the Blue Angels fly over!

While portions of the park remain closed, a large portion of the trail is open and you can bike or ride down to the boat ramp & water access. Sites are private and the bathrooms are in quite good shape. Do your research about the site numbers based on your rig. We have a 35' 5th wheel and fit easily into site 30. Sites are private and the bathrooms are in quite good shape. Do your research about the site numbers based on your rig. We have a 35' 5th wheel and fit easily into site 30. No issues with good power or water. Great cell signal with T-Mobile. I was able to work without issue for the whole 2 weeks.
Close proximity to Pensacola or Gulf Shores with plenty of great places to eat and drink. Can't wait to get back once the whole park is open.

We were grateful to find this campground open without reservations as we traveled through the area. It has clearly been impacted by hurricanes and is in the process of renovating which we are very thankful for. Our spot was very small for our 28 foot Airstream with a steep decline towards the road. We were grateful to find this campground open without reservations as we traveled through the area.
It has clearly been impacted by hurricanes and is in the process of renovating which we are very thankful for.
Our spot was very small for our 28 foot Airstream with a steep decline towards the road. Campground mixed tent spots and rv spots together which I think put us in a spot which would have been much more suited for tent campers.
Nice hiking trail to observe birds and waterways.
Would only use this as a pass through stay not a extended stay area. Brand new Aldi's grocery store just opened while we were there convenient on way to and from park.
