Everything in this area is dusty and because this is an all gravel RV park, when it is windy you can expect alot of dust and dirt. We stayed during high winds which made it even more of a challenge. Mother nature!
Anyhow, were not happy that the host sent us to a downgraded site, stated due to the size of our camper. We were not guaranteed our site for the next day. We spent two days here and thought we paid for a "site" . PS, paid 88.00 a night. We booked 5 months in advance.....and no guarantee? You know, so when you come back from a long day of exploring Big Bend and hiking in Big Bend, you would know that you had a site to return to. When we were told it wasn't guaranteed, we asked to have it guaranteed. They stated they would send someone to our site to place something on our post to guarantee our site. However, no one ever showed up.
The bathrooms were meh.....outdated but useable . You have to pay for a shower.
The host completely ignores you and is very dismissive of any questions or concerns. I am not a negative person and always approach my concerns in these situations with a "benefit of the doubt" attitude, however, after being dismissed many times in regards to our stay, it became very clear to me that he didn't care at all about my concerns.
This is a supply and demand situation, they will always be able to book it. So what did he care. I would never stay here again, just because of this reason. I live and work in a tourist town, and this is the attitude of many businesses. I would suggest any other place other than this, even if you have to stay a bit further out.

I would have given 2.5 stars but settled at 3 on location alone. The park is in the process of changing hands and was bought out by a larger company, so that may explain the issues I had in trying to book a site. Credit Card was pinged but online still showed no confirmation. Had to talk to someone to get it straightened out, and that was not exactly smooth either, and I had my doubts when I arrived. Thankfully check in went smoothly and the ladies that helped me were very cordial. The campground is pretty much a dust bowl in the desert with a restaurant, gas station and small store, but that's what I expected, so no disappointments there. Water and electricity worked fine. I wasn't a fan of having to shove 8 quarters in the machine each time I showered, given I was already paying $50 per night. It got cold there the last 2 days, and I lost a minute or more of my 6 minute allotment waiting for the water to warm up enough to be bearable. Men's room garbage can was overflowing for two days, and there was no hand soap in the restroom for the same time frame either. It did rain the last two days, so in the event of meaningful precipitation, be prepared for the most thick, cruel, pernicious mud this side of the Mississippi River. Site 71 was decent. Close to a bathhouse and a modest amount of room. The day after I checked out they ran my credit card through two more times, for two more nights. I was still on the road so I figured I'd chat with them about it after my travels were over. A couple of days later they ran through 2 credits on my AMEX for the same amounts, so they must have caught their mistake. I never bothered to call to inquire as the old adage "let sleeping dogs lie" seemed appropriate here. Not really a resort, and the price is high considering the condition of the facilities and the shower "upcharge". On one side of the property is a water or sewage treatment unit that hums 24/7, but it didn't really bother me even though I was only a couple of hundred feet away. It's definitely not a destination itself, but it is very convenient to the Park, which is why most people are there to begin with. I most likely would not stay here again if other options were available.

Let’s first address some previous reviews. No, this is not a resort. Most “RV Resortss” are not resorts. Yes, there is dust and dirt. You are in a desert; by definition, there is dust and dirt. Yes, the power can be unreliable, but that is not their fault. When we were here the power was out for 8 hours and it was a regional issue. It’s my understanding, the problem originated in Alpine. The same thing happened last month. The regulars just flow with it. But power outages do result in water outages and that they can fix.
The good news is Big Bend Resort and Adventure is under new management: Aramark. Rumor has it, Aramark will be making improvements that include a backup generator for the well which means power outages will not result in water outages. I would also suggest a backup generator at the gas station so gas and diesel can be pumped during power outages. They supposedly will also install site-wide WiFi. I would hope they would remove the coin-ops in the showers and instead put code-keyed locks on the bath/shower rooms to keep transients out. I’m paying to stay. I should be able to use their showers for free.
In general, this was a good base camp for exploring Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The sites are level and easily negotiated. The only current drawbacks are lack of WiFi and coin-op showers. These issues were mitigated with a T-Mobile hotspot and, with full hookups, showers in our RV. We never encountered the smell that some people reported. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great with gas/diesel out front, a grocery nearby, numerous restaurants within a few miles radius, 9 miles to the Maverick Entrance to the National Park, and 21 miles to the State Park.

I read many reviews and almost didn’t book here. This campground is wide open. Easy to get a big rig in and out. Full hook up. Close to Big Bend. There was no smell. Don’t count this campground out based on the reviews. It was an awesome stay.

Overall would be willing to stay again given convenience to Big Bend. About 5 min to panther junction entry and 45 min to Chisos. But other reviews are accurate regarding dust, etc. “Resort” is a bit of a stretch. We stayed in travel trailer and did not use the facilities. Verizon service was intermittent; able to watch Netflix shows on a couple nights. Decent amount of leveling work required for most sites. Did enjoy playing horseshoes with the kids. Nice to have the gas station and convenience store nearby. Breakfast at the little diner was actually pretty good. I only noticed the “smell” issue a couple times and probably wouldn’t have thought much about it had I not read the other reviews. I honestly settled on this location only after all of the other places were booked for Thanksgiving week. But after driving around, I’m not sure any of the other parks were that much different or better. A dusty lot is still a dusty lot. In the end you’ll end up here anyway to get gas as there’s nowhere else to go.

Basically a crowded, dirt, parking lot, which I expected, but there is a sewage treatment plant right next to it and the smell is awful. No Verizon service, but ATT was good I was told. WiFi in the lobby only, where I was able to get work done. I’ll look for a different place if I return.

This was one of our first trips so not much to compare it to. Next to some sort of plant (like water treatment or sewer or something) so that was not our favorite. It was fine. Everything you need. Felt safe and close enough to park entrance.

Wouldn’t you rather be in the national park then? Want to sleep with your windows open to enjoy the sweet cool desert breeze? Don’t count on it. Faint odors from the nearby sewage treatment plant on the hill (the view) waft into your window and wake you up. No wonder the rig parked by the plant had it’s AC running all night when it was 60 outside. And don’t get me started about the water. It had a strange taste that coated the back of my tongue. Who knows what was seeping into the water supply?
At least the dogs loved rolling in the dirt all around.
