It was a little run down but overall was very conveniently located. The small shop across the road was amazing! It had everything you would not expect to find in a little store in the middle of nowhere. The owners of the shop were also very nice. If you find yourself in the area definitely stop at the little store. Owner of the campground was really nice. It was a super quiet place.

The owner offered me a beer on the first night. The site was a little rugged and almost level. This was a good base camp to explore the camp. None of the other RV camps were much better. The owner was very friendly and gave us a veterans discount

The shower/toilet rooms haven't had a deep cleaning in a long time. The tin on both sides of the toilets was corroded badly, and hard to not touch. Pink algae is creeping up the sides of the showers, and is on one shower head. Shower controls in one shower were not adjustable. It was just up/down, on/off and lukewarm was the best I could get. Full hookups were not available. The sewer drain appeared to be recently installed, but we were told not to use them. Locals/ played Mexican music loudly one afternoon, and I couldn't sit outside and read. Positives...water and electric hookups worked great. Price was good.

Basic campground with the best showers we have found while camping. Private, clean with plenty of hot water. Yes there is an old sailboat in the weeds next to the campground. Don't let it bother you. The folks that own the place are friendly and hospitable. Really try to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Right on the edge of the NP with an amazing night sky. Food market right across the street for all you needs. Oh. And great wifi. Wonderful place to make your base for exploring the nP and the big bend region. As of the date diesel was forty cents cheaper at the Alon station in Study Butte than in Alpine. Just sayin......

This campground is located just outside of the entrance to Big Bend National Park. We have a larger rig, but for some reason we were put in the spots for the smaller campers. We still fit, but it was tight. All the other spots were taken. We were met by the owner at our site at check-in. He let us know that these sites are full hookup but black water can not be dumped in the sewer, just gray. When we left, we'd have to dump at the larger sites to the southeast. (The new site locations do not show up on google as they are a recent addition to the park, but would be to the northwest of the main campground).
The campground could use some cleanup work. There's a boat in the weeds and other stuff lying around. Looks like it may have been a nice place at one time.
On Thanksgiving, he came by and invited us (and everyone else at the campground) to a free Thanksgiving meal at the pavilion! Delicious, thank you!
Starlink was 85 down 25 up. Our Verizon phones were on 3G roaming. AT&T was at 4 bars with the cell antenna. Verizon on the cell antenna was 0.

Needed a launching spot for big bend, found it here at Study Butte RV Park. Great hanging out in the outside covered area with owners/employees/locals. Be careful of Larry, he will get you drunk and tell you lots of stories. Super close to Big Bend National Park. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, laundry if you need.

This is the closest campground to the entrance to Big Bend National Park. Several other new campgrounds have opened up in the past few years. We stay here every year though because of its location and the friendly owners, Leon and Benita. It’s a basic, unassuming desert park with FHUs and large sites in the older part of the park - these used to be buddy sites but he’s changed them to larger single sites now - room for our rug, propane fire ring and lots of camp chairs for get togethers. We have a new picnic table at our site. Leon has put in new power pedestals. A newer section of the campground has sites with W/E but no sewer. There is a pavilion where group get togethers can happen. This visit we even had a music concert and pot luck one evening that was great. There are also a few RVs to rent through AirBnB and a few tent sites. There are private restrooms with showers available but the laundry is gone. The WiFi is strong. Verizon cell works on extended network with 3 bars and ATT cell works with 2 or 3 bars. Our portable Dish works well - since Study Butte/Terlingua is a desert area, not much shade nor trees to keep the satellite from working! Right across the 2 lane road is the local country store. We stock up on most of our groceries in Fort Stockton or Alpine and use the country store when we run out of a necessity. We will keep staying here when we visit Big Bend. We don’t need fancy - we like reasonable pricing, FHUs, WiFi that works, safe and friendly; Study Butte RV works for us. If you want more amenities and a higher cost, check out Maverick Ranch in Lajitas, which is close to the state park but not to the National park. It is very nice but not near what we come to the area for.
