There was a bit of plane and road noise, but overnight it seemed to really calm down. The restrooms were clean and a nice surprise was the free laundry! There is also a ferry nearby that will take you into the historic area. We will certainly stay here again when we come back to visit NOLA for a couple days. A much cheaper option than some of the private RV resorts in the area.

This site is in close proximity to downtown which was important to us. We rode our motorcycle into town for a day and enjoyed not needing to drive for long. The walking paths over the bayou are enjoyable for casual strolls. That was probably our favorite part of the campground. We took the pups around the camp site multiple times. Restrooms were adequate. Access to the campground took some time to navigate. Regarding noise, there was a train nearby, a busy highway, and air boats that woke us up a few times. We would stay here again if we head back to NOLA in an RV.

Typical full-service state park campground, but a bit facilities more run down than we've seen elsewhere. Plenty of space and pretty quiet when we were there (November). Easy drive into the city or the near-by national park units. Buggy just like everywhere in LA. Staff was downright rude when we had to interact with them.

Nice campsites. We really liked the proximity to New Orleans! Below is a pros and cons list.
Pros:
- proximity to New Orleans
- friendly faces
- fairly empty during the week
- lots of trash cans
- dump station
- nice board walks over the swamp/marsh areas
Cons:
- parking spot wasn't level
- pretty noisy in the morning (some sort of loud machinery began at 7am)
- trash on the ground around trash can areas
- restrooms haven't been updated in a while
We'd stay here again if we wanted to visit New Orleans, but not for the site itself.

There are a couple wooden trails to walk it's kind of nice. Lots of room at the sites. Some sites have wooden "dock" or porch you can back up to. We liked here if you can get used to the air boats.

Kind of expensive but the area is kept up and the bathrooms have hot water! Only used the eltrical hookup but had no issues. Bring bug spray and a way to keep cool in the summer! Nice shade here, but you’re legitimately in a bayou.
Worst part was cell service, and only because I’m working on the road. Struggled to get one or two bars and couldn’t get anything while in the camper. The WiFi is available but rather useless for data.

This state park is a great option for exploring New Orleans if you want to come back to nature at the end of a busy day. The sites are pretty big and level and surrounded by grass and trees.
Value:
While it's more expensive than other state parks we've stayed in, it was the least expensive, good option in the area. The sites are pretty big with many having a wooden deck. Like most state parks, it offers electric/water hook-ups and a dump station.
The one negative of our experience was how crowded the park gets on weekends and holidays. We arrived to find our neighbor's friends parked in our site and although they moved their vehicles, the campground was pretty loud over Easter weekend. If this is a concern, when you book your site, look for a few that are on a corner.
Dog-Friendliness:
Like other state parks, there's no off-leash dog run, but the interior road in the campground is long enough and wide enough that you can take a safe, long walk with your pup.
Runner's and Biker's Rave:
We didn't have a chance to run or bike but the interior campground road would've been a good option. The town area right outside of the park didn't look as safe.
WHJ Insider Tip:
It's just a ten mile drive to the Algiers Ferry terminal that takes you into the heart of the city (Canal Street) for only $2 each way and that is also dog-friendly! Parking by the terminal will cost you about $10 for a day but we found it was worth it to save time and the hassle and cost of driving into the city.
Overall, this park is a really good option for exploring New Orleans. If you're visiting on a holiday or weekend, just know you might want a site that has more privacy from your neighbors.

Easy back-in sites with partial hook ups. A few sites are “double sites” that would allow 2 camping units on one site but can’t accommodate any slide outs. I’d avoid these sites. There’s a nice playground and great walking trails here. The bathrooms were pretty clean, though lacking of hot water. There is free laundry but only one washer was working and I was told that the dryers “took hours” to dry a single load. We enjoyed our stay here and even extended for 2 additional nights. The sites were paved and fairly level with a good buffer between each site.

We didn’t mind the 15-20 minute drive to downtown. Friendly staff and park rangers. Free laundry was a major perk! 2 bathhouses w/ 2 washers and dryers each. Dryers were slow drying, but no complaints because we didn’t have to pay. Shower house was ok, could be cleaner, but didn’t expect much based on other state parks. The WiFi was slow, but we expected that too. No sewage hookup, so expect to dump every couple days or use shower houses.
All in all, a decent stay, especially for the price and proximity to New Orleans.
