Stayed here for three nights on a mountain bike trip. Campground was quiet and clean. Water and 30amp electric hookup - only one dump station for the entire campground. Good Verizon service - 2-4 Mbps download speed. Very pretty place to visit.

Bandy Creek was great! We tent camped and the sites were very well maintained and the bathrooms were spotless. The campground was busy but everyone was very respectful. Plenty of space around the fire and it did not feel cramped with our 2 large dogs.

We had a great time exploring the surrounding areas. We hiked several trails, visited the old mining museum and community in Blue Heron, recommend the Dairy Bar for ice cream sundaes. We didn’t do any swimming or water activities but we saw several others that did. The sites were clean and well kept. Quiet and easy to get around.

I need connectivity to work, this is not the place. No Tmobile, intermittent ATT single bar
That being said, this is a lovely campground. Nice clean ablution facilities, pleasant peaceful surrounds
Make sure you have your supplies before leaving Oneida. It’s a curvy road in and out.

The campground was completely full though so it may be better at other times. Our site was nice. There are trees and some shade and space between sites. They have ONE dump station for the whole campground though. We waited about half an hour to dump when we checked out. There wasn’t a hose for water (just one for fresh water) so we couldn’t clean out our tank. The road in from Oneida is narrow with steep curves and rock overhangs. I wouldn’t attempt it in the dark. My phone would randomly update my email, but we never had service when I checked. (ATT and Googlefi)

This particular campground is close to the Big South Fork river which has class III and IV rapids for whitewater kayakers. Campground lost a star from the rating because to pool was still closed due to COVID-19. If you’re pulling anything longer than a pop up or teardrop be careful coming from the direction of Oneida TN. The roads in the NP have several tight switchback turns!

We spent four nights here in early October. The location is perfect for exploring the southern section of the BSF. The campground is fairly new and well-maintained, with clean restrooms and campsites. There are no sewer hookups but there is a dump station. Another user was dumping his tanks without using a hose as we pulled up, making a mess around which we had to work.
The main drawback to staying here is that the area gets a large number of horse campers. The frequent generator usage, large tow vehicles, and early departures from the campground were a nuisance at times. There was also above-average noise from other campers, including loud talking/shouting and group activities late in the evening despite posted quiet hours. The noise levels detracted from an otherwise good stay. I wouldn't stay here again, except possibly in the tent-only loop at the start or end of a backpacking trip.

Bandy Creek is a large, seemingly uncrowded campground in the middle of the very large Big South Fork National Recreation Area.
The sites are spacious and well-spaced. Loops B-D have water and electric, loop A is dry camping and planned for tent campers. A few sites have 50amp service. The bath house we visited was clean and in good condition. It appeared that most sites could accommodate larger RVs and horse trailers. We didn’t have any issues with the “reverse” water connection.
One odd thing about our site was its 2-bay configuration; many here are set up this way. With the trailer door facing the picnic pad, the truck is parked streetside parallel to the trailer and as a result the water hose must reach across the truck’s space to the faucet. The power post is in the same area. Not a problem for us, but something to be aware of.
This is a great campground, but the park’s resources and activities are where it really shines. We stayed 3 nights and were only able to fit in a few of the things we were interested in. There are many miles of hiking trails, covering all levels of challenge. Many multi use trails too.. this park was originally focused on horse campers. We were told that the park’s stables are some of the nicest public stables around. There’s a pool in summer, miles of single track bike trails (most fairly easy), gravel roads perfect for running or biking and creeks and rivers to play in and around. Twin Arches is a must see, but not for dogs… it has steep ladders. The Angel Falls trail is a very easy 2 mile out-and-back along the river and is perfect for running. This is a dark sky park (and it IS dark!) so bring your telescope or binoculars and ask the ranger for the best viewing areas.
Another interesting but not close-by section of the park is the town of Rugby. It was a Victorian colony settled by Englishmen and now restored with shop and restaurants open on the weekends in season. A short and very beautiful, almost surreal, trail there takes you to the Gentlemen’s Swimming Hole. Plan on swimming, too! See the map attached to get there.. the large park service map isn't real clear on that.
If you’re having trouble prioritizing your time, the campground and park staff are friendly and helpful.
The recreation area also borders other interesting parks too.. Pickett CCC State Park is to the west as is Pogue Creek, a dark sky area and Nature Conservancy property.
Entering and exiting the TN areas of the park, on/from the east side is a little scary – there is a short section identified as a 13% grade and some very sharp hairpins. It wasn’t fun with a 25ft trailer and I can’t imagine it with a horse trailer or motorhome. This is the route to Oneida, so be sure to have plenty of provisions if you want to avoid that drive.
We plan on returning as soon as possible to this park and campground. There’s so much to see and do!
