Although I am retired Army, I haven’t used military installations until now. I am pleasantly surprised in regard to the cleanliness of the latrines and showers, moreover the staff is fantastic…. I gave this RV park a five star even though the WiFi wasn’t on par so we used our hot spots. There is plenty to do around this area which makes this place extra nice.

We spent 7 nights here at Apache Flats RV park on Fort Huachuca. Fantastic location, the fort is a self-contained city. You will need access to the Army Fort to camp; Active Duty, Retirees, Veterans (proof needed, VA ID card works). Every site within the park is full Hook-up. Plenty of space between sites, with a sidewalk that runs up the middle of each row towards the Office/Showers/Laundry room. Showers immaculate, best showers we've ever seen. Sierra Vista is conveniently nearby for dining and shopping; Wall Mart and Target with a ton of other shopping almost on top of each other.
Plenty of things to do in the area. Tombstone is 20 miles, Tuscon is 90 minutes (Saguaro NP, Pima Air & Space Museum, a little further is Old Tuscon theme park and movie set). If you don't want to leave the base there is plenty there too; Huachuca Canyon is behind the military housing area and is amazing.
Wildlife is abundant; Deer, Javelina, Squirrels, plenty of lizards. In the mountains behind the fort there are Mountain Lions, Bob Cats and Black Bear which is common for most of the Arizona mountains.
Then there is the historic portion of the Old Buffalo Soldier Fort and Parade Fields complete with a museum.
Shawn would stay here again
