This campground is a great place to stay while visiting Charleston. We didn’t use any water this trip so we just needed an electric/water site. We asked to be put near the bathhouse and was directly across from it. The bathhouse was clean and had nice, hot showers. Our site was perfectly level as soon as we pulled in. We didn’t have to do anything at all. Easiest set up we’ve ever had. We were in site K1. All the sites looked like they were level. We would definitely stay here again. Be sure you come in so that you turn in to the campground to the right and anytime you leave there, you want to turn right. Almost impossible to get across the road to turn left unless it’s early in the morning. They give you directions at the office of how to get almost anywhere turning right and our GPS did also.

Monthly stay: we stayed here July 2022-September 2022. First they make you pa the weekly rate for two weeks before they “approve” you to be monthly. The two weeks were almost the price of monthly. Monthly stay: we stayed here July 2022-September 2022. First they make you pa the weekly rate for two weeks before they “approve” you to be monthly. The two weeks were almost the price of monthly. Then you have a meeting and sign paperwork to become monthly but we didn’t have to move sites as they put us on a monthly spot. Just a crock to get more money out of you. Monthly rate at the time was $950. Expensive but the whole area is expensive. However we got an email some months back that monthly rent is now over 1,000. Laundry room was nice. 4 washers and 2 good sized dryers. Pool was nice but closes early. Dog was nice and used quite a bit. Campground floods easily with heavy rains. We were told if an evacuation was needed they would post to Facebook. So just pay attention to weather and Facebook lol. Off a busy road. Making a left turn into the campground can be a wait and a left turn out of the campground as well. Manageable but Charleston traffic isn’t fun anywhere you go! Close to Kiawah island and angel oak. Staff were friendly enough most of the time but nothing to be amazed at. Mail was sorted nicely in the office and packages were kept dry inside and sorted by name which was really nice. If we really had to we would stay again if no where else had openings. Overall campground was clean, pretty much all monthly stays when we were there people kept to themselves and campground mostly empty. Also people drag race up and down the road next to it at night which is LOUD.

We stayed here for 13 nights while visiting Charleston. As other reviewers have noted, making a left turn into the campground is difficult because of the typical level of oncoming traffic and because the left lane of that traffic is often backed up by folks waiting to make a left, blocking the intersection. So find a route that lets you make a right turn into the campground (this also means that making a left out of the campground towards Charleston is difficult: along with our campground map, the office gave us a set of directions for getting to various places that didn’t involve making that left turn).
The campground is divided into three sections joined together by the main campground road, which has an asphalt surface with a number of speed humps to help enforce the 10mph speed limit. The first section, which is closest to the entrance and the office, is a small 11-site section with back-in and pull-through sites under mostly open skies. The second section contains 9 rows of pull-through sites (5 on the west side, 4 on the east) along with back-in sites along the outer perimeter of these rows. Most of the sites in that section receive a lot of shade from tall trees, but half of them only have water and electric hookups. The third section has a similar layout to the second section, but without any tress among the pull-through sites. All of the roads leading to the campsites are narrow, but only some of them are explicitly marked as being one way roads.
The composition of the sites varies widely. Some sites have concrete pads surrounded by grass (even in the front and back), while others have gravel pads of varying widths, and a few are just all grass. The sites in the second section seemed to be the widest and most spaced out. Some of the pull-through sites in the third section have landscaping. Our site (NN6) was in the third section: it had a wide gravel pad with a picnic table, and two shrubs between us and our neighbor to our right. The site was level, had plenty of room for our 37-foot fifth wheel and 21-foot truck, and had the water, electric, and cable hookups on a single pole near the middle of the site, with the sewer hookup close by.
The office has a small store with RV and convenience store items, and they sell firewood and ice. They also accept mail and package delivery and provide propane refills anytime between 9am and 7pm. There is a small pool area across from the office, a small playground and tetherball pit between the first and second campground sections, and a covered pavilion for large gatherings. There are two bathhouse buildings, one across from the first section that includes a laundry room, and the other between the second and third sections, with multiple bathroom and shower stalls. Instead of dumpsters, there are multiple sets of 6 or 7 outdoor trash cans alongside the main campground road. There is also a set of 20 similar-sized cans designated for single-stream recycling located next to two RV dump stations. During our stay, a food truck serving authentic Italian food was open for business Wednesday through Saturday from 3pm to 8pm. If you prefer cooking your own meals, there is a supermarket less than a mile up the street.
Dog owners will appreciate the huge enclosed dog run near the pavilion, but there are plenty of open grassy areas to walk in as well, particularly along the woods on the east side of the campground, but the mosquitos were pretty thick in that area (we didn’t really experience any mosquito issues around the campsite).
On the Saturday we arrived, the bandwidth I saw on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was adequate but on the low side (7Mbps down and 3 up). But after that, it improved dramatically, with numbers like 150Mbps down and 23 up, and we had no issues streaming video during the evening. The best speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 152 Mbps down and 22 up.
We would stay here again if we were in the area.

This park had everything we needed, full hook ups, pull through site, big enough for 5th wheel and truck, big dog park, and a food truck that serves dinner four days a week! We were here in late November, and there were no activities going on. But we were here to go downtown Charleston and check out some beaches, which is what we did!

Stayed here for 9 days in May after a week at Disneyworld. It was an a great stop while visiting friends in Charleston. The park is large and includes huge grassy areas with lots of shade trees with a mix of full/partial hookups and then a full hook up area in the back that is mostly gravel with some patchy grass and bushes. The large grassy sections with trees was just gorgeous and I can't say enough about it, unfortunately we couldn't get into any of those full hook up sites and were banished to the back in the gravel, but it was nice to be able to walk the park and enjoy the shade.
One of the best parts was the dog park. It was a massive grass area with a few very large trees. Plenty large enough to throw the frisbee for our dogs and for them to run their hearts out. It was very clean!
I believe that they are only taking reservations 3 months out at this time since they are currently selling the property, hopefully it will remain an RV park as it is truly a lovely place to stay.

We were scheduled to stay a week but hubby came down with the flu and the staff was able to extend our stay for another week without having to move stops.
The only negative was the left hand turn in and out of the park. Traffic signal causes long back ups and the drivers arent courteous. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall I enjoyed my time here. I wish I had a little more room at my site, but they do have some sites that are larger. The biggest downfall is the intersection in front of the campground. It is impossible to turn left out of the campground.

The options in Charleston seemed small for such a great place to visit. The state park on James Island was always booked, except for during the week. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. The sites are a mix of grass, gravel, or a concrete pad. Most of them are pull-throughs. Some have FHU, some only water/electric, some are dry camping. Some are 30 amp only, some are 30/50. So if you needs something specific let them know. We stayed in a FHU, with 30 amp, on a concrete pad. There was no breaker on the electric box - FYI. The wifi was so-so. This is a basic park and a good place to stay while exploring the area. The biggest downfall is getting in or out of the park - Hwy 17 is VERY busy. When you come out of the park, you have to go right and do not expect to get into the left turn lane. There is a Speedway gas station on the corner where you could maybe pull through and come out on Main st, but even that can get busy. I highly recommend when coming to the park that you come in from Hwy 17 south, from the direction of Hwy 526, so that you can turn right into the park. The left lane from Hwy 17 North is just barely there and the traffic is too thick to get through and not courteous. Easy to navigate inside of park.

Don’t get me wrong, the park was fine. Plenty of room to get into sites, electric/water/sewer worked just fine. Plenty of trash bins around. It just doesn’t compare to some of the other parks we’ve stayed at recently and for the price, you don’t get much value.
Bathrooms are more like a state park, very old and in need of remodeling. They’re below average compared to other RV parks. At least they were clean.
Getting into and out of the park is another frustration, as the street it’s on is SO busy. Making a left out or in is difficult.
Road noise was noticeable, but not terrible.
Overall a very average park that could do more.

We really like this campground. Easy access, large pull-thru sites, clean grounds and bathhouse, very friendly staff, lot of trees, large dog area and convenient to everything. One of the very nicest places we have stayed. Highly recommend!!
