Usually there are a couple of reasons. Seniors have the National Park's America the Beautiful or Access Passes for disabled veterans that give 50 percent off regular published rates for Corps of Engineer Parks. Then some folks add tax and any other associated transaction fees. Hope this helps.

I know when I visited there, the water fronts were higher rates. They also honored senior discounts with lifetime pass that can cut rates in half as well as offer veterans discounts for online reservations. Nice area to camp, seems to stay pretty full most of the time.
