As with most state parks, there's no cable or wifi although both ATT and Verizon had excellent coverage and speeds.
The workers and camp hosts were very nice and the park had a really safe and pleasant feel to It. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and the grounds are well taken care of.
Fernadina Beach/Amelia Island was a great spot for shopping and dining with tons of stores and a really cute beach town vibe. There's tons to do there but not so much in St Mary's.
The only downside I feel the need to mention is the overwhelming amount of biting gnats that come out mostly at dawn and dusk although sometimes throughout the day. I realize this is the woods and I've dealt with plenty of bugs but this was something beyond the norm. They didn't seem all that phased by regular bug spray and they were fierce. We saw a few people sitting in their screened in rooms in order to enjoy the outdoors. It was the only downer on an otherwise perfect state park.

Finally got here after getting canceled during Covid in early 2020. Beautiful park, lots of space between campsites, most spaces are distanced from roadway, lots of trails to walk on, well maintained facilities, quiet campers. For some reason most campers there were older... like us. Older section on western side seemed to have more room between spaces. We walked our cat on many of the trails, I fished for a couple of days but didn't catch much. River access is not so good as there is a bluff along most of the river, best access is near the campground bait shop/boat ramp on the west side, and on the far east side of the campground at the river trail. Be careful of the tides and note low tide mud has that distinct tidal smell. Really like this park, great destination or stopping point heading north or south along the coast. Convenient location near groceries, gas, restaurants, etc. We will return.

Nice, well-maintained campground but this was second visit at same site with same problem...after moderate rain, water pooled in several areas in our site, mainly on side with doors, and took forever to drain. Mentioned to site maintainers after leaving 6 months earlier and response was "staff aware and more gravel is being added soon" but not the case. Campground has one loop offering 50 amp and sewer hookups and another loop with no sewer and less privacy between sites. Some issues with no see-um bugs (in Dec!) at dusk since river nearby. Nice, level and plentiful bike/hiking trails, nice outdoor workout station with equipment, nice bird observatory (but no one filling feeders when we were there). Nice, clean bath houses. Near military submarine base.

Pretty long dump station. Lots of trails, and bike riding. Has a nature center and store with basic necessities. Some sites near water. Very friendly staff and very well maintained park. Definitely a winner, and we will be back! Has a bait store. Grocery stores within 6 miles. Dollar General about 4 miles. About 7 miles is the Navy Submarine Base!

Very well organized operation with good reflective signage. Shaded by trees but no screening between sites in our area, but they were well spaced. We would like to come back and spend some time down in the town of St. Marys where it looks like some good restaraunts and places.Verizon service was good. We got the Ga discount for seniors here.

The sites do accommodate big rigs, but some of live oaks have a fairly low clearance.

We enjoyed our stay here, spacious sites. There are nice trails along the water and around the campground. We stayed in March, and there were some bugs at the time. The moss on the trees made a very pretty southern park. The only complaint, we bought fired wood and was difficult to burn.

Average for a Georgia state park, very little privacy between sites but most–especially those on the outside of the loops–are quite spacious. Our site has a direct view of the water through the pines.
The cabins looked really nice, with screened in porches and even the picnic area over there had screens. In February, we had no issues with bugs though.
Well placed dumpsters, good cell service and though many folks were up into the evening, it was very quiet. Some of the sites could literally accommodate a 200’ trailer, maybe if you had one of those semi towing a 5th wheel pulling an extra large pontoon with a Prius behind that (because, the environment), you wouldn’t even need to unhook them at all. I also saw a couple with a screened in bug tent over their fire pit, so that was something new.
The bathrooms are all individual shower and toilet setups, which is really nice for bathing kids and babies who don’t like showering around strangers (or strangers in general.)
Otherwise, lots of turtles of varying species live here, and it’s pretty like Bob Ross’ hair.
