I drove in to check it out. The spur road to it is NOT in good shape. Passable but it looks like it sustained a bombing run. The 6 sites at the main end are cramped and I would not advise anyone in a trailer longer than 20ft even think about it.

We ended up here when we couldn’t manage to locate the boondocking site at West Denny Creek. It’s well off the beaten path — about 5 miles off the highway and 3.5 of those on dirt roads. We were here in mid-September so didn’t contend with mosquitoes but there are plenty of gnats and a few flies. The views are spectacular and the sunrises are worth waking up for.
There are two large, level sites together about 4 miles in on the right side of the road, another secluded site just past those two on the left with no creek view; the remaining 5 sites are closely spaced at the end of the road. Sites 1 and 6 are quite large and fairly level; site 5 is fairly secluded but quite sloped and limited in length; site 4 is more suited to tent camping; site 2 is large but not deep enough for most RV’s; site 3 is fairly level, has a great creek view and accommodates rigs to about 30’. All the sites have fire rings, there are toilets but no water.
The first two sites on the right are huge and would be perfect for group camping. The one past that on the left is much smaller and very private. Sites 1 through 5 at the bottom are clustered fairly close together and the noise could become an issue if the campground is full and anyone behaves selfishly. The Verizon service is consistently good with 2 to 3 bars on LTE. My husband was able to stream Netflix with minimal buffering. The road in is narrow and quite rocky in spots but we managed in our 31’ class A pulling a 12’ box trailer. We also rode our motorcycles in and out without incident. Overall, it’s a good spot within 30 minutes of the West Yellowstone entrance.

Vault toilet on site. $16 to dry camp in a National Forest, seems a bit too much. First one drives 1.9 miles down a Forest Service gravel road that’s in good shape, we averaged 25-30 mph in our 25ft rv. Then one turns onto another road for 0.8 miles to go into campground. This road is very rough, Uneven and potholed. We took it at 5mph. Very limited turn around options. Once there one pays $16 at a drop box cash or check. Payment is dropped in an envelope that has a required to sign bear wavier on it. If you are going to the lake I suppose this is a good campground but we were going to Yellowstone. It takes at least an hour to get to the park from here because of road conditions. We did see a fox.

We stayed here 5-22-19 and really enjoyed ourselves. The road in is a little bumpy, but just take it slowly and you will be fine. The campground itself seems laid out a bit weird. There are 3 pretty obvious spots and 3 others that are tucked away and seem more catered to tents/cars. When we arrived there was 3 tent campers and we were the only RV. I don't think that I would take a bigger rig down this road as it might be tough to turn around, but my 22 foot trailer did fine. I'm sure you could stuff a small camper in the 3 weird spots. Although my rig would likely only fit in the 3 bigger ones.
To address the bug issue.. it is no joke that there are literally swarms of bugs. There are probably over 1000 in our immediate camp area alone. Although after some research I found out they are actually midges NOT mosquitos. Therefore they have no interest in biting you (in fact they physically can't). They are indeed a huge nusance, but won't leave you with a million itchy red bumps. Different times of the season may be different bugs, but I have not had a single bite from a mosquito while staying here.
As for service, Sprint seems to have full bars 3g on my phone. My girlfriend has full bars roaming on her phone. We are able to watch Netflix on her phone so take that as you will.

Beautiful little spot on Hebgen lake about 25 minutes from Yellowstone. Six campsites that are fairly close but only one or two others were occupied at a time. Toilets and scenery are the main amenities.
Cell coverage was varied from one bar 3g to two bars LTE, but with a booster it was good enough to surf the web and check email.
