This campground was a pleasant experience and has well-maintained facilities. The bathrooms were clean, and the warm showers were fantastic. There is trash available as well. The sites are numbered and are first come, first serve. We arrived late afternoon on a Saturday in mid-March and there were two sites left. The sites are quite long and it looked like a couple of them were being shared and still had space between rigs. Cell worked okay with 1 bar on AT&T. There was a generator running in the early evening but the night was quiet and it was nice waking to birds chirping in the morning. There was diverse mix of campers, Class A's, tow campers, vans and a tent. Overall, a great choice for a camping trip or just a quick overnight stay while traveling through Florida like we were.

There is a ‘camp host’ who also lives in a camper and provides the upkeep - no rangers or fees or anything. The camp host who was there when we stayed had a one year contract from April to April and had a family - very nice and our kids played together. Would have stayed longer (max 14 days in 30) but we ran out of septic space and needed a dump.. happens fast with a family of 5! Had a guy come by and jam with us on his 12 string. There was a small beach near the river which had hiking trails up and down it. Made a fire with ground litter and there was a pre-made fire pit in our spot!

We came here at the beginning of May and the temp was in the mid 80s.
It is dry boondocking with access to shower and trash. If the host is around, you may be able to fill up your RV tank. It's very pretty here but it's hot during the time we came. It is an hour away from Pensacola and Destin, FL.

We stayed here end of March/first of April. What a fantastic place. There are no designated spots here but plenty of space. The camp hosts were Ken and Lisa and they were amazing. They left right around the time we did after a 6 month stint here. They hosted live music & snacks a few nights during our stay. A special thanks to Ken for giving us a ride back to pick up our Jeep after our kayaking trip down the river.
What can I say. This place is free (for now, let's hope it stays this way). We met some amazing people. There are nice & clean bathrooms and showers (camp host clean them daily). Along with water and trash. Plus access to the Blackwater River which is amazing for kayaking/canoeing. In addition there are hiking trails which our dog Josie loved.
Everyone here was so nice, the hosts, fellow campers. Sure there were a few generators running here and there but overall a nice quiet place.
Note: the coast guard ran some helicopters overhead a few times a day almost daily during our stay but it wasn't obnoxious.
This is a gem we will visit again. The friendships we formed are priceless.
The road in isn't bad at all, gravel. Most of the camping area is grassy and mostly level.
We had a signal (we have AT&T with Cricket). Those with Verizon had nothing. So something to consider.

This was a very nice FREE campsite with hot showers! The campsites were hard packed sand covered with short grass. They really didn’t have designated spots - just find a place. The bathrooms were clean and warm. There was also a boat ramp to the river. We would definitely stay here again. There was no cell service, but we didn’t mind.

The bathhouse was average with two big showers and the water was semi-hot. Huge dumpster on site for trash. The river beach was a fun place to hang out and let our dog run around. Lots of generations going, but enough space in between that it wasn’t too loud. We had decent cell service but we use First Net. Anyways, great place to camp in the area. Roughly an hour to Pensacola and Destin.

We loved camping here. The only downer was that there was no phone, or internet service. There is plenty of room for all types of campers. I couldn’t imagine this place ever being truly full. There are very clean toilets and hot showers on sight. There is also a large dumpster for trash. Beautiful spot right on the river.

Big rig friendly free camping doesn’t get much better than what awaits at Wilderness Landing Park in Florida. Free RV and tent camping at Wilderness Landing Park comes with flush toilets, hot showers, trash receptacles, well maintained access roads, a boat ramp, beach access, and stunning views of the scenic Blackwater River. The one downside was that there was no Verizon or T-Mobile cellular service at this location and AT&T cellular service was limited to voice only and very spotty internet connectivity. A speed test failed for all the aforementioned carriers.
