“Agree with everything Holly said except we think site #10 is the best in the c/g.”

Only one other person here with us in late Sept., the best time of the year in northern MN. The C/G is long five miles on a stone road (in very good condition) and access to c/g and sites was good. Plenty of privacy between sites, the views of the lake are gorgeous. Drinking wated in the c/g is very rusty and of course the spigots are unusable unless you are filling small containers.
No trash bins, but pit toilets and free firewood when they cut some.
If you have the right site, this is paradise; no phones, no internet and no noise.
Tomp would stay here again

We were very pleased with our stay at Two Island Campground about 15 miles west-ish of Grand Marais, MN. It has 3 main loops including a boat launch. It was very very quiet and the sites are very private from each other (lots of foliage in between sites). I felt we had the best site there (33) and number 32 was similar. Both were spacious and had a wonderful lake view and access. Our loop, however, did not have water so we had to drive down the hill to refill but that was no bother really. The Lake has some homes on it but not that many. It's a good fishing lake and quite large with many more than 2 islands, actually. Many sites had lake access. Other sites ranged in size from small to large. There are several sites that included steps either up or down into a secluded area for tent camping. We plan to return again. There was no cell phone access.
Other lakes in the area with National Forest campgrounds that we saw and liked were Devil's Track (but much different - more open), Baker Lake (only 4 sites - borders BWACW) Kimball Lake, etc. Really can't go wrong in NE Minnesota!
The town of Grand Marais is very nice. Touristy but pleasant. World's Best Donuts has a constant line, The Angry Trout Cafe is excellent on the water, The Harbour Haus was good and reasonably priced. Nice art galleries, gift shops, library, Folk School and a very large busy campground in town on Superior where we were able to dump for $5. And a very nice big Food Coop for good organic food.
Holly would stay here again
