On the plus side, I was here mid-March and had almost the entire place to myself. Friendly camp host. Good if you just need a spot for the night.
Highway noise from 155 but quiets down at night.
Campendium needs a "maybe" option for the would you camp here again question... I would for a quick overnighter.
Kit would stay here again

We had a pleasant, if quite hot, stay here in July. The area of the campground that site #17 is in is quite shady. Though there are plenty of water spigots, most do not have threads for a hose, but the spigot for potable water near the dump station does (dump station was needing to be pumped.) The showers were not working. The cg seemed to be fairly clean though we did not use the bathrooms so can’t speak to that. There is some road noise from Hwy 155 and some of the huge number of weekend campers were less than courteous about noise. Camp host, Mike, was friendly and checked in regularly, and we had some nice times with the neighbors who camp here regularly.
Besides the camp road that can take you to the beach, there is a trail just past site#76 that can get you there walking. The beach was probably 1/3-1/2 mile from where we camped. That part of the beach had less people, too.
We really enjoyed the water, especially our dog. Note: this area of the lake apparently consistently has much less algae than the southern side. (Algae toxins can kill a dog.)
Highway 178 through Kern River Canyon is the route to get there from Bakersfield. It winds through this deep, narrow canyon.

Stopped in late and had place to ourselves. Flush toilets and showers were fine. Can see the lake but no sites near it. Hy 155 is close but not a nuisance. 2 bars vzwbut good speed. Able to stream radio and video.

We came here hoping to spend the weekend near a lake. The water is so low it is about a mile from the campsite. The sites are set within many rocks which is kind of nice but bru few level offer long sites. Flush toilets but showers are turned off. Rv dump but flush water turned off. Found one water spigot in the whole camp ground. It was very confusing to figure out how the CG was laid out as many of the arrows are worn off. The wind was horrible and I guess that is normal. For all of this they still wanted $28 per night! It seems like the should have been reduced rates with no water.
Good thing, we are the only ones on the whole CG except for one we assumed was the host but never greeted us.
