“Lots of happy friendly kids!”

Discount for 62+ age (15%). 3% fee to pay with a card. No WiFi (we don’t have a booster). Very popular park, well used, loved by all, lots to do. Arrived Sunday evening in mid-March and there were few sites available. We had a water/electric site. Not a lot of space between units but certainly enough to enjoy picnic table and fire pit... more

“Wish we were staying longer”

Cool campground. Sites could be cramped during busy season. Thankful we were here in February. Cool history in the area. Bathhouse was ok. Could use some updates but we’ve experienced worse. All in all, we’d come back.

We've lived in Birmingham, Alabama for many years and are currently staying around town in our van while we wait to begin traveling full-time in January 2019. Tannehill is about a twenty minute drive on I-20-59 from Birmingham where my wife is employed until the end of the month. The park is conveniently located off the interstate. ... more

“Beautiful Camping in a Historical Setting”

Reviewed May 19, 2018

An amazing State Park with a wealth of circa 1800’s historical buildings and cabins and of course the Civil War era furnace which is an impressive structure to say the least. Numerous trails for biking and hiking. The campground is situated along a gentle creek. Most are wooded sites offering pleasant shade. Sites are gravel and fair... more

Just driving through but wished we could have stayed! Only 10 minutes from I20. Over 300 sites, many pull through that accommodate large rigs. Our 35' pulling a Jeep had no problem. 30 and 50 amp at all sites, sewage not available in pull throughs. Nice shaded spots with fire ring and picnic table. Many sites along creeks, no pull thro... more

This park is the site of a major Civil War skirmish. They have restored cabins as well as the ironworks that was attacked by the Union army and there are many trails for hiking and biking, including one that leads to a slave cemetery. Roupe's Creek provides a popular venue for fishing. There is also a pioneer farm where they appear to ... more
