Restroom showers recently renovated. Small laundry. Easy access to downtown Memphis. Lots of trails. Heavily wooded.

As we drove through the edge of Memphis we were worried as it was very dumpy however once into the park and having met the rangers we were totally at ease.
Verizon was not usable at 1MBps while AT&T was great with a 20MBps download speed
Great place!

If you are 62 or older, they give you half off your campsite which turned out for us to be approximately $15.50/night (for 5 nights, including a weekend, in February).
The campground is within a 15-20 minute drive to most attractions in Memphis depending on the traffic. It's been so nice and convenient for us, that we decided to stay a few extra days!

Booked online for our 2 night stay. The road behind the campsite is busy during week days as you are near a waste water treatment centre and power plant. Rangers patrol frequently. Neighbourhood leading into park looks sketchy and lots of rubbish.

We stayed in site 28 with a 40’ motorhome. We could not get level without one set of wheels in the air!
FYI Senior discount is valid even if you are from out of state.

The campground smells like sewage at times, even though there are no sewage hookups. Decent amount of wildlife. The shower/ restroom situation is concerning. The women’s room is under construction so men and women share the men’s room. There is no toilet paper, the trash is overflowing, and the state of the bathroom is poor ( feels like a prison). The campground trash cans are overflowing and no one has mowed in awhile. I’ve been here 2 days so far and the visitors center has yet to open. Once the bathrooms are fixed this may be a nice place.

I hardly ever leave reviews but I want to warn people about this place. I have a very sensitive sense of smell. Every breeze you get a whiff of a toilet. I stayed one night and that was too long. I love Meeman shelby up north but there is no cell service! Really wish Memphis had better camping options.

We were happy to find a park so close to Memphis attractions, but it’s not a very nice one so consider pros and cons. Apparently there is a sink hole close caused by a plant nearby which is only 50 feet above sewer line and makes the whole campground smell bad. The drive to the park is through a pretty rough neighborhood which caused us to worry about security. We weren’t comfortable to stop at nearby gas stations. Bathrooms were not updated or clean and the ladies room was closed for construction so the men’s room was co-ed. I am no princess, but still don’t like to see a clogged urinal. Oddly so close to town, but no cell service and out antenna found only one Christian TV station with services all the time, no local news.
Ranger was very nice.

The office and check in process was very pleasant. I was looking for a place to stay late June on my camping/road trip across the country. This campground was awful. Grass at my site, was over 1 ft tall, and the women's bath rooms were not operating or open. This was supposedly a temporary situation and apparently not the fault of the staff, but it looked like a prison. I was not about to go into the dark smelly place at night myself (with no locks on the doors) I never even set up camp. The whole campground looked run down and needed much work. I spoke to younger ranger who was very polite and he was able to have a refund sent to me.
