I hardly ever leave reviews but I want to warn people about this place. I have a very sensitive sense of smell. Every breeze you get a whiff of a toilet. I stayed one night and that was too long. I love Meeman shelby up north but there is no cell service! Really wish Memphis had better camping options.

We were happy to find a park so close to Memphis attractions, but it’s not a very nice one so consider pros and cons. Apparently there is a sink hole close caused by a plant nearby which is only 50 feet above sewer line and makes the whole campground smell bad. The drive to the park is through a pretty rough neighborhood which caused us to worry about security. We weren’t comfortable to stop at nearby gas stations. Bathrooms were not updated or clean and the ladies room was closed for construction so the men’s room was co-ed. I am no princess, but still don’t like to see a clogged urinal. Oddly so close to town, but no cell service and out antenna found only one Christian TV station with services all the time, no local news.
Ranger was very nice.

It Seems They Have No Maintenance Workers Here. Bathrooms Are Beyond Sad And Old. We will not return.

The park ranger allowed us to move to a back-in site. Very nice man. He also patrolled the park quite often. Sites are far enough apart for privacy. Mosquitos were out but only bad in early morning or late afternoon.

I heard one train overnight but it was far away and only a few horn blows, light sleepers should be fine.

It's location is the perfect days driving distance, depending on time of day, traffic can be a little tense going to the park on I-55 and side roads until you reach the industrial area the park is located close to. The park is very beautiful, but is in dire need of some upgrades, especially the restrooms. We've stayed here for 9 years, and the restrooms continue to get worse, spend some money on your parks TN.

We stayed here for two nights on our way to Montana. The staff were very polite and helpful on the phone while helping to reserve our site; $29 for the first night and $31 for the second (not sure why, but not a big deal).
There are some fun trails out past some of the campsites. We were pleased that there was a playground for our two young boys, who loved it. Park was pretty clean, and there was a free library box near the vending machines beside the laundry room (two washers and two dryers, all working).
There was heavy rain and thunderstorms the first night, and the next morning the whole campground smelled like grey water, but again, not a big deal. The dump station was working and easily accessible.
The other campers were all very friendly and weren't loud (we were probably the loudest with our two kids...). One of the other campers even gave our boys his old fishing tackle boxes that he'd just replaced--am amazing present!
Overall, a very nice place to relax!

Nice and convenient to Memphis, pretty place with lots of trees and woods.
The camphost could do a better job cleaning out trash from firepits and blowing or raking leaves off site pads and on the campground circle road. It was hard to see where the road was in places with so many fall leaves on the road.
