“Small, quiet beach front camping”

Reviewed Feb 27, 2019

Overall Rating

Stayed 2/26/19 and the East beach was closed for Hawk Hunting Season. There were only a dozen sites with hookups, all reserved when we arrived, but plenty of beach space to spread out for primitive camping. We would have enjoyed it much more if we had not arrived during a crazy lightning storm. Cool weather, friendly rangers, but low c... more

Our rate reflects using the state park pass. We had a wonderful view site. There are mosquitoes there, but they weren't too bad except for in the evening and in the morning. They did find their way through the screen so we had to keep everything closed when they were out. We occasionally had for Verizon internet. It was not consistent.... more

“Worth the drive for the view”

Reviewed May 09, 2018

This is a long ways to go for a one-night stand so plan to stay awhile, and it will be worth it. A small campground on the Gulf Coast, almost on the border of TX and LA, and you get to drive through a lot of oil refineries in Port Arthur to get there. But it's worth it: endless beach less than a minute from every campsite and beautiful... more

“small, quiet park right on Gulf”

This park only has 13 sites. Getting to it you have to drive thru Port Arthur refineries The bridge just past the park is out. You can drive on the beach. It has vault toilets and no showers. The sites have electricity and water. It was pretty buggy I made a youtube video of the park https://youtu.be/DdpXA1Mf7Xo Cell phone data ... more

“Nice State Park , Clean and friendly Rangers.”

The beach camping was $10.00 but you also had to pay $3.00 per person per day for an entrance fee. They did have RV sites with 30/50 Amp electric and water ($20.00 + EF). There was a dump station about a 1/2 mile away. Pit toilets were clean but no convenient to the beach sites. No shower facilities. We stayed right on the bea... more

Very nice staff. Very clean well marked sites and maintained. Beach is beautiful water some shelling and very hard packed. Driving on the beach can be done with any vehicle.
