This little park is right off I-40. We arrived at dusk and found a place beside the tennis courts. The little park was full which is why we parked just outside the designated area. I would certainly recommend this as a place to do a quick overnight. You cannot camp, but you can certainly sleep.

Right off of I-40. Would fit any size rig. Decently level. It was very quiet and peaceful even when it fills up at night. Would definitely dry again if passing through. Bathrooms still closed for winter.

As we traveled east, we had a hard time finding an area to pull in late at night and sleep in the camper until we took off again the next morning. We passed a few NM rest areas, but didn't feel comfortable parking at them overnight. We pulled into this park and it was much better than staying at a noisy Flying J or Love's for the night. The park is only 1/2 mile off of I-40. Just pull in the park and you can park parallel to the dozen or so picnic tables. There was a dumpster, and a porta-potty. There is an actual bathroom, but it was closed due to Covid. Nothing scenic, but it felt safe enough and was quiet enough for resting after a long day of driving. There were a few other vans parked overnight when we were there. There is a very small playground as well.

Nice spot. Perfect price;). Restrooms locked but clean porta let available. Concrete picnic table and grills at each site. Easy spot right off I-40. Only camper here but 9 spots available. So nice of this small town to provide this area.

On our way east, we passed San Jon and stopped at this small free campground in the middle of town. Not much to it, but well lit at night and across from City Hall. We are here tonight, Friday, October 30th, and the grass was a bit on the dead side, but we had a level spot and the entire campground to ourselves. No one else here. About 2 minutes off Highway 40, south and on the right, you can't miss it. Taking up the same property is a day use picnic area, a very small play area for little ones, a baseball field and a community center. No water, electricity or dump station, but hey, it's free. I rode my bike 5 minutes to the Phillips 66 station north of Highway 40 for authentic Indian take-out food. Amazing tastes. We highly recommend it, but it is not in a great location. It is inside the gas station, but wow was the food delicious.
