With a little planning (or luck due to a cancellation), you can get a reservation in one of the few RV sites at this campground. Since it's not huge (like nearby Rifle Gap), it's quieter and pleasing with some good options for hiking, fishing, and sightseeing. A few things I haven't seen mentioned:
* Bring cash or check for the day use fee, unless you already have a pass.
* Sites 10 - 13 are really close to each other, and 10 isn't too far from 8. 10 was closed while we were there so that was nice for us.
* The water spigots I saw were located at each parking lot, near site 3, and one between 8 and 10. Definitely not for keeping your water hose hooked up during your stay, but convenient enough to stop and fill up on your way in/out or fill up a jug.
* Closest dump station is at Rifle Gap state park but check before you go as it was already winterized when I scouted.
* If you're just hanging around camp during the day, you will notice some traffic as the Falls attract a decent audience of day visitors.
* Closest cell service I found (Verizon) was near the golf course south of Rifle Gap, although a faint signal popped up in a couple spots around the reservoir.
As for things to do, there's a fish hatchery near Rifle Falls that has two fishable ponds, or you can fish the stream by the campsite. There are two other state parks nearby that you can explore with your purchased pass in addition to what's available at this park. Rifle Gap has a nice reservoir for boating and water activities. Harvey Gap is close, too, but we didn't go there.

There are small caves to inspect and good hiking trails. The pit toilets are kept clean. Showers available at Rifle Gap State Park where all the big RVs gather. This has smaller sites with some pull-throughs and some back-ins. Don't bring a 40 foot monster here unless you choose your site carefully. Electric only, no full hookups available. Several spigots scattered around the CG.

There is great hiking, you can fish in the creek or in the ponds above the falls, and you can just sit and listen to the flowing creek.
The park is about 25 minutes N of Rifle.

Its a beautiful place, the hike up to the fish hatchery was pleasant and the campground is peaceful.
We had to drive out to the dam to get cell signal, but overall we'd definitely stay here again!
