“Basic city campground ”

Basic city campground. Electric hookups. Crushed gravel / dirt campsites. Big grass field for the dog to run. Stayed just a single night while passing through South Dakota and it was exactly what we needed - quiet and with electric power.

Great spot! Campground Host, Dave (super nice guy) greeted us right away and let us choose our spot for the night. The bathrooms and grounds were very clean and there’s a small walking trail by the river. Sioux Falls is about 30 minutes away.

This is a nice city park campground. The bathrooms were very clean and the hot showers had great water pressure. It is not very far from Sioux Falls.

There is a pleasant little stream running through the park.

With that being said, here’s what I like about this place,
*Plenty of room
*Quiet
*Brand new Electric hookups
*Walking paths, grass and gravel/paved
*outdoor workout equipment
*Walkable town
*The local pub has good food, and cold beer
*A great stopover from East to West, West to East, or simply across the state of SD.
The town is pretty small, so don’t expect many services, but if you made it here, you’re probably prepared for your trip.

We needed an overnight on our drive. Called ahead about 3 hours before we thought we would arrive. Dave said to come on in. Plenty of space. How can you pass up $25 for electricity and water! There is a dump station if needed. The site was a pull-thru with a nice shade tree (as most were). It was just 4 miles north of I-90 and very quiet. It is next to the City Pool. Entry fee is $3. Well worth it after a long day's drive. While there, be sure to check out Porter Sculpture Park just south of Montrose on I-90. This is filled with whimsical metal sculptures

We stayed overnight in the way to the Custer, SD. It had a great fishing stream, swimming pool, and short walking trail. It even had a multi-sport court for basketball or tennis. It is several miles off the interstate so it is very quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Site #1 is slightly sloped and next to the bathrooms/shower. We were too tired to discuss further, so we set up. Despite the campground being 3/4 full, the place was incredibly quiet. Groups that were gathered around fires couldn’t be heard.
Bathrooms were clean, but old and musty. Didn’t use the showers, but they exist. Left at dawn. Decent cell service.
