We stopped here for a rest stop while traveling across country and it was Memorial Day weekend- families and children everywhere and it was a pleasure.
Sites have water and electric but no sewer- dump station available. Showers/restrooms were a little dated but very clean and functional.
Campground is small and on a large lake called Wright Patman that appears to be a great fishing spot although we did not fish.

We checked in without reservation on Monday evening and there was lots of sites. The sites on the water look hot, lacking shade. Get a site in the middle for good view of lake and shade - plus close to the cleanest and best shower / restroom you could find.
Use you Nat'l Park pass to get half off the fee. We

The Army COE campgrounds are always so well thought out and well integrated into the landscape. This campground is no exception. Spots are paved and level, with the road way positioned to easily accommodate backins.
Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and some come with a tall table to prepare food. The amenities at each site are on an elevated platform next to the paved pad.
The park itself is among tall pines, spaciously placed to allow walking through them.
Our site, A9, was about 300ft from the water.
The bathroom facilities are newer, positioned right next to the playground (which is also newer and right on the lake).
The cell signal was... so-so. Verizon had 1-2 bars of LTE but for some reason I could not actually get anything to load using that connection. ATT also had about 1-2 bars, which download speeds between 16 Mbps (iPhone X) and 7 Mbps (Unite Explore Hotspot with MIMO antenna). I worked remotely from this location and did not have any issue with ATT.
Sites have water and Electric (some are 50 amps, some are only 30 amps).
Looks like the whole area is recovering from recent flooding, but a majority of the sites were open and available in March, 2018.
This is a very peaceful and picturesque campground. We would definitely stay here again! Would be 5/5 stars if cell signal was better.
