“Great COE park outside Texarkana”

This is a great park with lots of sites. Very friendly welcome when we arrived without reservations. Price reflects golden oldie pass rate. We scored a great site on the water - Lake Wright Patman - up on a cliff. Nestled under oak trees, facing west with beautiful sunsets every night. We stayed here in November and they were having record high temperatures so a little too muggy for us but we had great cell signals and a strong 30 amp site enough for our ac. The only real issue was one of nature (which is hard to blame anyone for) but the oaks above dropped acorns on our roof periodically that sounded like shots being fired!
We checked out the campground in case we ever returned and the C Loop had awesome sites with easier access to the water. Not a lot of beach area here.
Nice restrooms with hot showers. Great looking playground and a disc golf course too. Not a lot to do in Texarkana except stand in two states at the same time!

“Campsites overlooking the lake”

Very nice campground right off of Hwy 59. We stayed one night heading to the coast and one night on the way back home. We stayed in the same site both times, we had no reservations and the campground was fairly empty. Our first night was Sunday night and the second was Thursday. Pros. Some sites on the waters edge.
Almost all sites are shaded, pine, oak and
Sweet gum trees.
Many non reserveable sites.
Very clean private showers.
Dark sky for star gazing.
Nice playground.
Close to town, (10 miles) feels secluded.
Very quiet at night.
Cons. Some trash at the campsites
Monday morning woke up by tree trimming
crew, (8 am). Only happened the first
morning.
More trash around boat ramp.
If you're driving from the south, my GPS tried to take me into the park at a different location, the best access is Spillway Park Rd.
