This campground was minimal but perfect. Our site (30) was perfect for our three kids (ages 6, 8, 9). There were huge boulders surrounding it which made for hours of climbing and make-believe play. Space for us to hang all three hammocks. Friendly ground squirrels the kids loved spying on. (They were also a little aggressive if we left any food unattended.) The campground was very quiet even when full. Perfect for serious day adventurers too. Very well-maintained- we even saw a grounds crew one day. We brought all our water for three nights, so I can’t say where a water fill would be. The location was great- just about 30+ minutes to get to trailheads inside RMNP and 20+ minutes into Estes Park. There was a small country store with shower facilities and laundry facilities just two miles down the road (but the laundry was closed because of technical problems in late June 2023). I would definitely stay here again and wish all campgrounds were like this one.

The lack of hook ups means you might have neighbors that run generators outside of quiet hours, which we did 2 out of 3 nights/early mornings. Aside from the noisy neighbors, it’s a great campground with privacy, variety, space, clean bathrooms and east access to everything the area has to offer.

We stayed her from July 11-18. Chose this Campground because of easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park. Roomy campsites with bear boxes, fire rings, grill picnic tables and tent pads. The pit toilets were super clean always! They were never under stocked either. The campground itself is a stopover for many visitors to RMNP. The town of Allen’s Park has a natural spring with a donation box. The water is amazing. Bring your container and fill up. The short drive to Estes Park and the RMNP is beautiful! We saw elk roaming the streets of Estes Park and Moose at the entrance to RMNP. We circled the National Park on one of our day trips and stopped to eat at Fat Cat Cafe in Granby. The food, portions and service were 5 star. I highly recommend.
This campground is inexpensive and easy access to lots of local flare! I highly recommend it as a short term or long term stop when visiting RMNP.

Two stars for the company that manages it, American Land & Leisure. Prices posted were wrong. Fire ban was posted erroneously. Reservation system is a disaster. Entryway and roads are neglected. They can’t retain their excellent staff, year over year let alone during a season, which screams management problems. Same is true of all of their properties in the area. It’s too bad, it brings an otherwise awesome place down.

The tent pad was pretty hard but I was able to get my tent stakes in with some finesse. No water but there is a wonderful free water spring nearby in Allenspark. Close enough to RMNP and Estes Park that I was able to conveniently drive there each morning to hike. There’s a lodge a couple miles up the road with $5 showers and laundry if needed.

We did not realize we were not actually camping in the national park until we got there. There is no cell service and that created a problem for getting passes into the park. Be sure to make your park reservations when you reserve your campsite. We did get in, by making a call the next day from Estes Park. It would have been much better to have had two full days in the park. But as it was, we enjoyed the camp site lots. Deeply relaxing. All nice people.

We wanted to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park. What a phenomenal place! On day one, our goal was to hike the lower part of the Rocky Mountain National Park called the Wild Basin. Do NOT skip the Wild Basin because the hikes are first rate. Due to the Covid pandemic, we were forced to purchase admission tickets in advance. Do not go to the Rocky Mountain National Park unless you have these tickets or they will not let you enter until after 5. We chose a campground about a mile outside the entrance to the Wild Basin called Olive Ridge Campground ⛺️ within the Roosevelt National Forest 🌳. There are 56 sites that will accommodate tents, campers, trailers, and RVs and most of the sites have full to partial shade and outstanding tree emersion. Picnic tables, fire grates, and vault toilets that are kept clean, and trash services are provided. 14-day stay limit. There is no hook-ups, dump stations, or showers. We had no cellphone 📱 serve at this location. All campsites with a tent pad have a bear locker.
We have just finished over 12,000 miles camping across the USA. The Campendium App was a necessity in our journey across the country. We want to repay the favor and leave reviews which we hope aid in your choices of campsites. Great starting point for all the local fishing, hiking etc, and reasonably close to the national park. If quiet is more your thing, because of its location, the park was super quiet during the day with everyone off on their own adventures nearby. Staff was not seen much, but we were there when it was fairly empty, and mid week. 2 small stores nearby that don't carry too much, but certainly enough to get you by, or fill in something you forgot. If we are back in that general area again, we will definitely use this campground again.
