“Beautiful, but hidden fees”

Reviewed Feb 09, 2019

Overall Rating

The website says $15/night. Don't be fooled: there's a "utility" fee, and you also have to pay the day use fee on top of camping. 2 days = $60.

It's a lovely spot, though, and there's nowhere else on this lonely highway.

This park is a smaller version of White Sands, and you can camp! Clean restrooms, lots of spaces and you can rent sleds to surf the dunes. Don't expect trees or shade. downside! if you go in summer, it'll be 110. Keep this in mind. Dog feet will toast. You a/c will not keep up. But if you're wanting to spend a while and hike, go in ... more

What a wonderful surprise in the middle of nowhere! We had a pull through spot with our own picnic table. The view was gorgeous, pure neighbors were quiet and the staff were super friendly. We were disappointed that we only could stay one night. We camp in a 39' trailer and it was easy in and out. The dump station was super easy t... more

Stumbled across this when I found out my planned trip was closed. Booked 22 hours online in advance with no issues. AMAZING worth the drive! Positives: Beautiful, stay for sunset, quiet, polite rangers, clean, plenty of trash cans, perfect for dogs. Negative: The drive here, bad cell reception. I will be back! This place is a gem. I recently spent a night here on the way to and from an event in Marfa. My first night, I arrived just as the ranger was getting ready to leave for the day but he stopped and took the time to welcome me and even gave me the dollar that I was short for my fees! When I told him would pay him back on my return tr... more

This place was great. Right off the highway. Easy access and water and electricity. The kids had a blast in this giant sandbox! I would definitely stay here again. They do have paved pads in the sites but around it is sand. We camped right in the dunes and it was a quick walk and we were surrounded by the dunes and sledding do... more

“Undisturbed nature”

Great camping among the sand dunes. This campground has wide level campsites and restrooms with lots of hot water. The sand doesn't appear to stick to clothes or skin too bad. You can climb the sand dunes and slide down like skiing on sand. Great place for kids and pets. Poor phone coverage so be prepared to be off the grid.

WE spent one night camping here and that was enough. No much here but sand so there is not a whole lot to do or see.
