Great camping among the sand dunes. This campground has wide level campsites and restrooms with lots of hot water. The sand doesn't appear to stick to clothes or skin too bad. You can climb the sand dunes and slide down like skiing on sand. Great place for kids and pets. Poor phone coverage so be prepared to be off the grid.

WE spent one night camping here and that was enough. No much here but sand so there is not a whole lot to do or see. There were lots of children playing in the sand and they really seem to be enjoying it. The facilities were very clean and well kept and the uniqueness made this an interesting one night stop for us. This place is really cool! On our way to big bend and we happened across this place and are so glad we stopped for two nights. Amazing dunes and animals/tracks. Sunsets and sunrises to die for. Super cheap ($14/night) for water and electric hookups, dump station at entrance to the park made it easy to dump on the way out. The sites wer... more

“Sandy!”

Reviewed May 10, 2017

When checking in, the ranger looked at me like I was crazy when she realized we had 7 day reservation, after a few days I realized why. We enjoyed the sand dunes for a couple of days, but there were several days where the wind was gusting up to 50+ mph, and it never stopped blowing. Every crack and crevice in the RV and our truck w... more

“Loved camping here!”

We had a site right next to the sand dunes where our kids could go sledding. The sunsets and sunrises were both so beautiful. They rent or sell sleds at the Visitor Center where you check-in. We were staying for 5 days so it made more sense to buy than rent. There are not very many big rig sites, but the site we were in was good. We we... more

“Sunny and sandy”

Reviewed Mar 18, 2017

Overall Rating

Great spot to bounce through for one night on way to Big Bend. Will cost a bit more per adult ($4) if you don't have Tx park pass. Sand hills are fun. Not sure what you would do here for more than one day. Pretty basic. Quiet and clean. They have shaded picnic shelters. Still, be ready for lots of sun.

“Beautiful soft sand dunes”

Reviewed Oct 27, 2016

First, the $15 includes electricity and water. Since we have an annual Texas Park Pass ($70) we did not have to pay an entrance fee or any additional fees. White soft sand just puts me in my happy place. Keep expecting to see blue water but just more sand. Each spot includes a covered picnic area and BBQ grill. During our coupl... more
