“Closes Labor Day”

Heard good things about Mary’s but found out they close after Labor Day. Website and phone confirm this.

This is a charming campsite with friendly, accommodating staff. The grounds are well maintained and shady. We stayed here over the long 4th of July weekend so it was busy even so the bathhouse and showers are spotless. Lots of families gathering here. It’s an easy bike ride or walk to everything. We stayed on the "mountainside" and I happen to think it is the nicest part of the park, with lots of afternoon shade and big trees. We were here during the week and weekends and there is a different feel depending on when you go. Lava Hot Springs explodes with people on the weekends, and so does this campground. It was built decades ago, so when a bunch of monster RVs get into their sites, things can feel a bit more squished. However, there is grass out your door, and on around the perimeter of the campground privacy in the back (which does help). There are also sites that back up to the river - but the river is below and behind a chainlink fence. You can hear the river from these sites, but maybe also a little more road noise.
There are sites for all sizes of RV, even "super sites" for people that want extra room (they are considerably larger than the other sites, so more $$).
There are trains that run through the whole valley which the town is located in. You cannot escape them and stay within walking distance of what you came to Lava for. This park is .25 miles from the hot springs and tube-launch area.
They have men's and women's restrooms/showers. There is no dry camping. There is a GREAT tent-only area along the river bank - beautiful!
The rates in this area are somewhat inflated IMHO, so expect that. These sites are full-hookup and everything is based on 2-person occupancy. There are extra charges for extra vehicles and extra people.
We enjoyed our time there and would happily return - for us, though, maybe sticking to the weekdays :)
Only open Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
