The area was surprisingly busy for a Thursday. We were lucky to get site 2. Fairly level pull-through with a bit of shade. Vault toilets could have used a bit of attention. There's a takeout for river rafters at the south end of the campground, which provides some entertainment. Lots of mosquitoes.

Right along the river was lovely. Nice trail across the road to walk a couple miles up and down the canyon.
Drive down to Pilar and drive north up the river to the campsites.
The dirt road section of Hwy 115 that drops down to the Taos Junction Bridge is ROUGH.

This series of BLM campgrounds known as ORILLE VERDE are well maintained. Lone Juniper has showers and several water and electric sites. It’s nicely shaded and has tables and fire pits. Seems like there is kayak access to the Rio Grand nearby.
