Came in on Saturday afternoon- all sites coming up the river were full. Got to the end and camp host let us park in group site but had to charge $40. In the end totally worth it. Plenty of room and beautiful scenery.

Each site has a Adobe shelter house which makes your site feel very private. Water and flush toilets and trash were a plus too. Picnic tables, fire pits and grill at each site. Good views of the Rio Grande and close walk to the boat ramp. We did a rafting trip with Far Flung adventures too while there and had a blast!

There are flush toilet restrooms on site. They weren’t too sparkling, but fine.
There are several hikes from the campsite or launch your boat nearby. The boat launch area across the water gets a bit busy with rafters and splashers at certain times of day but the area was silent at night.
The dirt road up to Carson also leads to trailheads. In summer the road was steep, bumpy and dusty but doable in any decent car. The paved road across the river leads toward Taos and there are more campgrounds along the way.
The big negative of this campground is zero cell service. I had to drive 30 minutes or so to the top of the mesa to get any connection w T-Mobile or Verizon. With a booster you might have more luck. Fine if you don’t want or need contact with the outside world but as a solo camper I feel nervous that far from any cell service for more than a day.
Camp host Ed was hilarious and friendly.

Most days quietly spent at the river or hiking numerous trails . Gets busy on weekends and when groups are in the group shelter. Not suitable for big rigs and trailers over 25 feet. Flush toilets and water available. No hookups.
