First off, it was about 20 miles out of our way, but the sites were large, the park was clean, our site was level and pull-through with a gravel base. It poured down rain all night, but the footing was still quite firm. Sites are dry camp or electricity only, which was sufficient for us. The park ranger was friendly and helpful. We could see the lake where the Corps of Discovery found it covered with geese and ducks, but we did not make it to the memorial. We had a long day of driving, and it was a bit of a hike through low, grassy areas, so we passed. There was a decent playground, adequate water access within the campground, and a clean trash/dump area. It was an average state park that was fine for a night or a weekend.

Too far from the interstate, 20+ miles, sites are not level and there are neighborhoods surrounding it. Didn’t feel safe. Water was only available at the dump station. This was convenient to our route and had what we needed. The website said we could come without reservation and showed many available sites so we almost booked one, just in case. After we arrived, a sign up front seemed to indicate only a portion of the campground was open, but it wasn't clear. Camp hosts came around and told us even fewer of them were actually available, and that once we decided which one we wanted, we had to reserve it online before 7 pm! All very confusing, as they did say we could register with them, but online was easier. If I'd relied on an online reservation to begin with, we'd have reserved a spot that didn't actually have power because it had been shut off for the season. Once that was all sorted, a peaceful enough night in a good clean campground, though the only showers were portable stalls, which were clean if not very impressive.

The site are very big. Our site was very flat pull through with electric, table, light pole and fire pit. Water available at dump station. Check in was easy. Park was very clean and nicely lates out. Just don’t follow the instructions that are on your reservation. Use US-59 to get there.
