The good: Absolutely beautiful place! Clean, pit toilets and all… Host even walked around, blowing pine needles off the paved road. The bad: group of campers obviously drunk by 3:00 on Friday afternoon and screaming into the night with loud music well past 10:00. Since they were the closest site to the Host site, we hoped they would put the brakes on the party (at least 15-20 at the site), but no help. Maybe because it was the last weekend of the year there, but it was cool enough to close our windows turn on the heat and get some sleep.

We got the last electric spot on a Thursday at 2, which as I understood it was $5 extra. I was happy to pay that. We got half price with our Annual pass, so it was $12.50 plus $5, so $17.50 per day. The hosts had just arrived, so things seemed a bit disorganized. They let a person save a site overnight, so there are some shenanigans going on. Our neighbor in 1A had gotten there on Tuesday and paid for the maximum week just so she'd have a spot on the weekend. She works in Hamilton and would come stay at night and leave early, so she was actually there. The vault toilets were clean. The 30 amp pedestal was fine. The water pressure was a bit low. The beach area was getting pretty trashy by the last day we were there so needs to be some work on that. If you don't get a site, you can get a site at the horse camp. There is also a dispersed site just past the boat ramp that is fairly large. After that, the road is a bit steep, but OK for vans, etc. You start getting cell signal if you get up on the hill high enough. The mountain biking is pretty good, hubby said. I road the north shore trail a couple times. It's pretty manageable. The CG is convenient to Hamilton and Darby. A neighbor let us use her Starlink, but otherwise there's no cell service for Verizon or T-Mobile.

Nice wooded campground, all paved roads and pull through sites. All sites had water hook up and electricity. Short ride on the bikes brought you to the lake and beach.

The rules are being bent. You show up in your vehicle early without your RV, get a site and they will hold it for 2-3 hours so you can go get your RV. This is in effect a short term reservation. The rules on the board say you must occupy your site when you pay. Not so, if you are a local resident, I arrived in the Morning with my RV and two sites were being held, i.e. reserved, for someone to go back and get their RV. This reservation exception works if you live close to Lake Como, so you can get your site then run back to get your RV. If you’re driving in from Butte, Billings, Great Falls, or any place more than an hour away, don’t bother unless you have a ready alternative or you arrive at sunrise. Don’t complain to the Camp Host … his hands are tied by the Forest Service interpretation of the policy.

I seriously almost changed my plans to go to flathead lake and nearly stayed a second night. Would absolutely come back.
Roads are paved to and inside the campground. Bathroom was spotless even though they’re pit toilets. I’m in an SUV, so I didn’t use the hookups, but it was the same price with or without.

Note that there is no cell phone but one can drive to Darby and have access without any problems
The town of Darby is great. They have everything that one needs along with a great organic shop.
The hikes are plentiful and rarely see anyone on the trails. The hike around the lake is superb. It is about seven miles but pretty flat.
Certainly recommend this campground w/o any reservation.
