You can hike on miles of great trails straight out of the campground, which was most attractive to us. Ticks were indeed a problem! But it's the woods, right? There was very little traffic and very few campers, despite the great April weather. Easy to get to and get out of. We spent a little time being choosy about finding a really level site, but our levelers would have compensated if we'd picked a different one. Two bars on both Verizon and AT&T. The stroll through the back road to the lake is particularly nice, for a relaxing walk.

This place has 20 sites I think. When we got there one other person was there. They were still there when we left after 7 days. One time someone came and stayed for one night. Other than that we had the place to ourselves basically. 2 complaints: ticks are awful and the 4 th morning I was there a ranger woke me up at 6 am for compliance check cause he said I didn’t pay. I told him I’d been here for x days paid x $ in the box and pointed to my tag in my truck. He left saying he’d figure it out never heard from them again. I was a little bothered by the amount of cars that just drove around the campground. I’d say prob 5 different cars a day. Some of that could have been rangers as I never saw a marked car. Even the day they woke me at 6am. The beach by the campground is nice but very small. Local really seem to enjoy it. Though they were always very nice and it was never crowed

Rustic campground with no water or electric - sites not flat but we were able to level up our 28 foot trailer ok - not crowded but noisy at night with one group of hunters with loud trucks at one site coming and going at 1:30 am and 3:30 am - be careful about hunting season if you want a good night's sleep - wouldn't think that would be all the time - pit toilets were clean but we didn't need them - nice fire ring with adjustable grate and picnic table - nice hiking trail to the small lake and around the cliffs - very pretty and had full moon at night - we paid half price with our America the Beautiful Senior Pass
