Winter Park allows you to park in Lot G for up to 3 nights and if you're a skier/snowboarder, I highly recommend it. You have to be capable of boondocking, but you'll be right across the street from the resort and there is a shuttle to the base of the gondola. We were there mid-week in early December and were able to park in a very isolated area of the lot and safely run our dog around off-leash. By Friday morning there were several more Vans/campers around us but, it was still far from crowded and most of our fellow campers moved their rigs closer to the shuttle stop. No idea what it would be like on a weekend though. Presumably, much more crowded.

Came To Bike For nationals Weekend. Lot Is Packed With All Size Rigs. From Vans To Fifth Wheels And a Class. Think Their Site Says 4 Day Limit. People Are Respectful With Noise At Night . It’s nice my son could walk there for dinner when he’s done riding and still have WiFi and cell service . Teens are hard to keep entertained

I stayed 3 days, which is max, towards the back by the trailhead. Beautiful view of the mountains around me! Back here I barely heard highway traffic.
Many other RVers and vanlifers were here too. As well as day hikers and mountain bikers during the day.
I felt safe staying here as a solo traveler.
The 2nd day I hiked Jim Creek trail which is out and back 8 miles. Beautiful hike!! Rated moderate do most can do it. Saw moose on the trail, my first! Be aware they will follow you to be sure you leave the area - a little scary but just give them space and they were cool.
I full time rv and this will be one I come back to. Hiking, mountain biking, outdoor stuff to do. Cute cafe 3 miles down called Moon Frog - definitely try it out. Safeway (grocery) is just 5 miles away. Town looked cute but I didn’t visit.
Good spot for a rest and some outdoor fun.

An easy walking/hiking path “Discovery Trail” is adjacent. We stayed overnight on a Sunday, so that we could play most of the day Monday - useful if you have your own water and a way to stay warm! It’s over 10,000 elevation, and gets very cool at night in middle of Summer. The Vintage parking lot was available for overflow camping as well - late July on a Monday and hardly any campers in sight! The picture posted is of the Vintage lot.

During the summer Winter Park allows overnight camping in Lot G. They do ask that you call security prior to your arrival (number listed on Campendium).
I consider this upgraded Parking Lot camping as Winter Park provides 7 numbered sites which each have a picnic table and fire ring in a lightly wooded area. There is room at these parking areas for trailers about 30ft long. In addition you can park around the center island with larger rigs. This area could fit 4 or 5 large rigs.
There is no water on site or dumping. The area does have some road noise from I40 but this dies down at night.
The road is well mainted packed gravel that is passable for even low clearance vehicles. Ample space for turn around.
The city of Winter Park is minutes away and the Safeway in Fraser is about 30 minutes.
We found reliable 4 bars of 4G Verizon and Winter Park has 5G.
Off the back of the Lot is a small handicapped accessible hiking trail through a low area. Due to this area there are some mosquitoes. A mother moose also frequents the area.
