“Beautiful Mountain View, Near Jim Creek, Not so Private ”

My brother and I stayed here as part of our first long stop of our new nomadic life style. We found the spot through Campendium and decided to give it a shot. The entrance is pretty visible from the main road. The dirt roads off the main main road are fairly smooth. We got through the whole area with our RAV4 (2WD) and pop up trailer easily. We looked through all the available spots and found a magnificent spot right in the middle of mountain valley so our view was unreal. Lots of trees and a small walking distance to Jim’s creek. It was clean for the most part. Lots of rock fire pits. There is a fire ban in Colorado right now but lots of fire rings available in the forest for tent campers and on the dirt road for rigs. We loved the spot bc there was so much forest to explore. We loved following Jim’s Creek for most of our hikes :) the creek is labeled as drinking water so we took a bottle to check it out and WOW is it clear! We used the water to fill our bottles while hiking.

The only down side was there wasn’t too much privacy since daytrippers would visit trailhead that was right near our site. Lots of cars and people passing through so it would get a bit noisy at times. Weekends would be packed too. At night everything is quiet again and you can hear the creek.

We saw a moose come up from below our site and lots of chipmunks. We had one mouse show up in our outdoor bathroom tent which was chilling haha My boyfriend hear what sounded like a bear trying to get to our trash can but can’t confirm the actual animal.

Winter Park and Fraser were just close enough with a laundry mat, grocery store and Murdoch’s Ranch supply if you forget anything on your trip.

Cellular service was pretty good. My Verizon phone always had at least one or two bars which gave me good FaceTime, call and text cababilities. My ATT&T hotspot worked better for WiFi on the laptop but the Verizon puck was fine too.

We stayed two nights because we couldn’t find anything else, it was nice for what it was. Decent views and easy to get to. It got crowded, but I’ve learned Colorado is just crowded in the summer. Nonetheless, it was a good stay with nice views and plenty of space.
