Five Island Lake Campground

We are really impressed! A small 21-site campground in IMMACULATE condition on a lake. What's not to love?! Full hookups in new condition (as of July 2022) . This is a no reservation campground for $25, so perfect for full-timers like us who don't fight the weekend crowds if we can help it. Here's what we have to share:
- Access the park from the north off of Huron St. Do not attempt to come in to the park from the residential area off of Lake Shore Dr. Trees are low and there is a peaked railroad crossing.
- The sites are leveled rock and with 6 pull-through sites that are approximately 75' long, this park is perfect for big rigs towing trailers like us. Back in sites can also handle 40'+ Class As. Our landing feet did not sink when leveling.
- Each site is equipped with 2/30/50A power (clean), water, and dump centered in the site so easy to reach for all rig types. There is also a concrete picnic area and BBQ grill.
- Currently, they have 21 sites total but plan on expanding the park into the vacant adjacent field which will easily double capacity.
- There is no shade since the park is new but we had no problems keeping our rig cool in the 90deg days were were here.
Definitely put Emmetsburg and Five Island Lake Campground on the map as you travel through Iowa. Such a pleasant surprise, especially for us. We don't plan further than a week in advance so we drift from place to place between our volunteer projects.

New RV park on the east side of Five Island Lake. All sites are full-hookup and have a view of the lake. Sites are widely-spaced with grass between. Sites are long with easy access. From information posted in the park, the county plans to add more sites. You self-register and pay on site. There is a nice shower building and a playground for the kids. There are also two cabins that would be great for a family gathering. It is a nice walk along the lake on the road through a residential neighborhood. There is a train track near the park which had one train a day while we were there.
