Liked this place enough that we decided to spend a second night. Quiet with a view of the Mississippi. Some slight road noise and an occasional train.

Trees are scattered throughout so many sites are shaded, some are on the Mississippi River. Water pumps scattered around park and there is a dump station. Check in on line. We went 3 rd week in Sep and the CG was 1/2 full. There was noice from a frequent train and local traffic. Would stay here again in Class c

Clean and conveniently located off I80. Level sites close to the river and convenient to the Great River Road for day trips. Site host was very helpful.

Okay park for a stopover. Lots of trees so sites are shady (big deal when temp in the upper 80s when we were there in mid-June). Arrangement of sites seems odd— our neighbor’s site backed up next to us and other sides located near the Mississippi River were stacked together so view of the river was halved by the camper in front. Sites on east end didn’t have any views of the river and were heavily covered which
might be an issue because the no see’ums were pesky at sites with river views where there was a breeze. Railroad tracks VERY close but the couple of trains that came by were short even though loud, didn’t hear any RR noise at night.

This was one of my favorite spots on our way to Maine. Water and electric for $20. Beautiful campground with great views. Nice cement pad, fire pit, picnic table and large grass lot. Dump station available. A train goes by but did not bother us. We would spend a week here next time!

During Covid you would expect the facilities to be cleaned and sanitized at least daily. This is disappointing as the facilities were not cleaned during our stay.
There used to be a natural vegetation barrier between the train tracks and campground and the busy highway. Some how it appears it’s being removed so all the traffic noise and lights were very noticeable.
It has been a beautiful little oasis on the Mississippi.... not so much anymore......

We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the nice clean facilities. the bathrooms were clean and the showers were OK. We found it very quiet. You could hear trains going by on the other side of the river far away, but on our side we only heard one train in all the days we were there and that was during the morning. The spaces between the campsites was about 20 feet without more than a lawn in between. We had a nice little alcove at the back of our spot. We could not see the river from our campsite but we walked down to it often. You can see the dam and barges going past. there were floating lily pads, a lot of bird activity, frogs and we saw a muskrat swimming around each evening.
Just a short ways down from this campground is the Illinewek State Park which has a few hikes in the hills behind it. The campground also has a bike river trail that goes into the city from there and follows the river.
Our 45 foot long rig just fit in our spot.
