This is a very basic campground used mostly by hunters and OHV riders. The campground is not paved and there are no designated sites. The drive lane is mostly obvious and marked with markers/reflectors mounted to trees. There is an information board which details fees and rules (indicated fee is $10 per night or $5 per night with an American the Beautiful Card). There is a vault tolet avaiable, but no water. This place is nice, but, I believe it may be a muddy mess if raining. We had reasonable AT&T cell signal (about 3 bars). We did run our generator through the night. There was only two other campes ( a class A RV and a Travel Trailer/Toy Hauler). They too ran their generators through the night. Access is down a dirt/gravel road (FR 311) about a mile from the paved road (FR59 Long Leaf Scenic ByWay). FR311 is well maintained. There is close access from campground to the Sandstone Multi use trail. And about 10 minute drive the the Long Leaf Scenic Vista area ( a day use area with trails and nice views).

This place is mostly used by OHV riders. It is in the Kisatchie National Forest. There is a mile of dirt road to get here, but it is in good shape. Open area on a small ridge with lots of trees around. Plenty of space, but no designated sites. You may need to level the rig some as it is just natural terrain. Just don't park on the lanes marked on trees with green arrows, that is the 'road'. The ranger will ask you to move.
Boondocking only. There is a vault toilet. It is ok. Not much firewood left in immediate area. If you drive around the forest roads you can find plenty of wood. They cut timber in the forest.
It can be noisy for some parts of day if people show up to unload dirt bikes or 4 wheelers. They use this as a parking lot also, but they don't normally pay the $10. To ride off road is $5/day. The rangers do spot checks on fees.
There is good TV signal if you have decent antenna. Cell phone is weak on ATT, but serviceable.
We came here to camp, ride trails on dirt bike, and hike other trails on foot. The OHV trails are closed to motorized vehicles Jan 1- May 1. It is also an area that hunters use during big game season.
