We arrived in our 34' class A RV late on a Sunday afternoon. There was easy access off the Interstate although due to the long distances between off-ramps, some U-turns were required depending on which direction you approached from. The park has lots of people enjoying themselves in the perfect weather but is was not overcrowded and the friendly park ranger came by to check on us. He informed us that the gates close to oncoming traffic at 7:00pm and the park would be emptied of the day time users. There seemed to be only one designated camping spot but we did see one or two other overnighters spread out in different areas of the park. We really enjoyed this spot and will definitely stay here again when our travels bring us near this vicinity.

The hail never came thankfully and we got to met our very nice roof-mates and enjoy the evening. The park manager locked the gate at night and gave us the pass code if we needed to leave. Park was quiet and my husband and I got in a run before we left. Flushable toilets nearby and if you look for it at the pavilion-electricity plug :-) We felt completely safe and it was a great stop that we will use again. Best $3 deal!

We arrived and found the park to be very green and pretty. It was also completely empty. A nice man escorted us to the one camp spot. We opted to just park by the Pavilion as it was raining and pretty sloshy. You can hear I-10 in the background but nothing to loud. The lot we pulled into was perfectly level. Easy access off I-10.

There were a lot of families, walkers, runners here when we arrived at about 3 PM, but they were pretty much gone by 5:30. We had the whole place to ourselves. Our dogs LOVED it. They could run and play and carry on safely. That is a luxury when we're on the road. No hookups. Park ranger came by at about 4 to say Hi... very nice guy. Loved it here. This will be a regular stop for us on our way west in the winter.

Got here around 6 pm (traffic delays) on a Tuesday, called the number and left a message. No call back 2 hours later when I write this review. RV spot is on the interstate side of the 1st ball field you get to. Look for the sign posted in the images. We got there just as a peewee t-ball team got there to practice. So nice entertainment for us :-) Site is long and gravel, not very level, but can make it work for a night. There are also tent sites on the other side of the ball field further from the interstate. Playground, waking trails, picnic tables. Definitely road noise, but much nicer than a truck stop.

Winter hours October 01 to February 28 they close the gate at 5:00 and your not allowed entry. Summer hours March 01 thru Sept they close the gate at 7:00.
Its probably best if you called and reserve a spot, since there is only 3 spots available for rv and 7 spots for tent.
Nice and quite except for freeway noise, but was not all that bad. Very clean. I would stay overnight again. Of course no hookups.

I contacted the park office several days in advance, then changed my arrival date a few days later. My initial call was returned right away but as the week progressed and the COVID-19 issues increased, the office was closed. I showed up late Friday afternoon and found the park open but the office closed. I checked the park map and found the designated camping area. This area is actually walk-in primitive tent camping in the trees on the far north side of the park. I wasn't sure where to go but found a truck camper in RV Site #2 (back-in) on the park road close to the interstate (south of the baseball diamond). They said they had just showed up and the groundkeeper showed them the spot. I found the same groundkeeper who was out changing trash can liners. He pointed me to two different parking areas, the second being next to the Halliburton Pavillion. It was level and pull-through but just a parking lot - it worked fine. All the signs say the park closes at 7PM but the groundskeeper said they stay open if people are still in the park. Also, the gate isn't locked, just closed with a chain wrapped around (I've seen that trick before!). Oh, and RV Site #2 is the only designated RV parking spot. The groundskeeper said, "I'm not sure why it says #2 because there isn't a #1". All these minor issues aside, it is a lovely park with trails and huge lawns, playground, volleyball, baseball, horseshoes, bathrooms, a pond, and picnic areas. It would be tremendous if they set up a small section actually designated for RV parking as the park is delightful and would less confusing for overnighters. There is some interstate noise as might be expected.

Stayed here 6 January 2020. You're supposed to register but the office was closed so I stayed without getting a permit. It was very quiet except for the noise that I was making working on cutting metal for my roof rack. Park personnel did not complain, and they were quite friendly to talk with. They advised that next time I should stay at the back of the park, as that is the overnight camping area (not where I had parked.) I checked out that area and it is rather "moist".
All in all, a very nice park, free, without amenities. Highly recommend and I would stay here again.
