It was very quiet at night. The lake isn’t very accessible, except for at the dock. You have to jump down from a 2’ wired rock wall to get to the water. The ‘beach’ is very rocky, but it didn’t stop our pup from going for a swim. With regards to hiking from the campground, there is none. You have to drive to nearby trails.

Lots of great hikes, Big Elk Creek and Palisades to the lower lake. Both along beautiful streams with lots of wild flowers. Palisades busier than Elk but not that bad. We saw no one hiking Big Elk Creek

Takes about 30 minutes to drive in from US26 on a newly paved road. Twisty but very smooth. We camped in loop c in our van Had possibly the most private site in the entire camp. Bonus: our very own wstet spicket across the riad!

We stayed at a non reservable spot. Host was very helpful locating a last minute spot. We enjoyed the reservoir and huckleberry picking too.
